koam posted : Yes. webmail in a browser won't access Android contacts. but mail in a phone browser doesn't work nearly as well as mail in a phone mail app.

I suppose I need another phone mail app that doesn't get permission to use all my android contacts. Or if someone knows how to truly disable Yahoo Mail Android App from seeing Android contacts, that would be even better.

koam posted : On an Android device, I've included my gmail accounts which brings my gmail contacts on to the phone. The gmail accounts include my business and personal email contacts. The gmail accounts run in the gmail app on Android.

I also have other email accounts that are unrelated, and never use the business and personal contacts with those accounts.

A few Hotmail and Yahoo accounts are ones I use for other topics, such as bills, subscriptions, interests, travel, etc. I put the Hotmail accounts into the Android Mail app that came with the phone. I put the Yahoo accounts into the downloaded Yahoo Mail app.

What I'd like to do is keep my gmail contacts separate from these other apps (Android Mail and Yahoo Mail). That is, when I'm in one of these apps and I start to write an email, I want the app to ONLY look at the contacts that I have saved in those accounts (web-based, accessible through browsers on PCs) I don't use any email cliients on my PCs, I just use webmail in browsers.

For example, when I'm writing an email from my travel-related Yahoo account on my computer, Yahoo only has access to the travel-related contacts saved in my Yahoo account. But when I write an email in Yahoo Mail on Android, the app has access to all my business client email addresses. I don't want the Yahoo Mail Android App to have access to all those other addresses.

When installing Yahoo Mail on Android, I was careful to uncheck the option for Sync Contacs and have always kept that unchecked. That doesn't fix the problem of Yahoo Mail Android App having full access to all my unrelated email contacts (and there are thousands of contacts).

Is it possible to achieve what I want?
--
YOU can help reduce poverty, sustainably.
