anon posted : Gonna jump in to this thread. I am in Sugar Land TX, and have been on windstream for 16 years. Up until this past Tuesday I have been on 12mb/.5 service and never had any issues at all. Last week I received mail letting me know that I could now get 24/4 at my home. I was very excited and immediately placed the call.

The tech was scheduled between 1 and 5, but didn't show up until 6pm. I was not home, so my wife handled. He installed a Comtrend Ct-5374. When I got home I immediately tested things. The computer hooked direct to the router was perfect down (higher speed then expected), but up was getting 1.8 at best. And wifi devices were getting horrible speeds - 2 down at best to all wifi devices. Of course being that the tech came so late, there was no one in tech support I could call, so I was stuck trying to get things working on my own.

After a lot of tinkering to get the wifi faster, I finally decided to hook up my old wifi router (D-Link DGL 4500). When I did that, all my wifi devices jumped up to the 24+ down, but still stuck at the 1.8 Up. So I am convinced there is something bad with the router portion of the Comtrend.

I was never able to get anything higher than 1.8 up, so the next morning I called tech support. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support while they attempted to figure it out. Eventually they did figure out that it was something on their end, and corrected it. I never bothered to tell them about the router issue, and just decided to keep using my D-link router as it appears to be working perfectly.

Ok so now I have had the system running for 3 days, and holy crap this is erratic as hell!!! One minute I will have blazingly fast up/down, the next minute it will take a nose dive. One minute I will have 28/4, the next minute I will have 1/.2. There is no rhyme or reason, just unstable and at times un-usable. And at least once per day It stops working completely and I have to restart everything.

Very frustrating considering I came from using a completely flawless running setup, to a setup that is faster but only when it chooses to work.
