Network Guy posted : Yes, I called to cancel.

If the rep doesn't play ball, which most likely they won't when your promo deal expires and you are not a new customer, you can always close the account and order new service using somebody else's name.

It's a silly game of them to play just so they can collect their $30 activation and installation fee. They won't allow you to install it yourself, citing bullshit reasons such as "If you install it yourself and it doesn't work, we can be held responsible".

New promo deal

Network Guy posted : For those of you contemplating on ordering and are interested in my particular package:

Optimum Preferred = $44.95 (same price as what iO family used to be)
Optimum Online = $29.95
Optimum Boost+ = $14.95
Two cable cards = $4.00 ($2 per) + obligatory bullshit premium outlet fee of $5

Grand total not including taxes = $98.85

Before I got away with free Boost for the whole year. This time the sales rep wasn't trying to budge. Only reason I need Boost is so I can run my server at home for IT-specific things that I do.

And well there it is...

The first time I called to order the sales rep said there's no double play, only value or preferred triple play. I ordered that then decided to check online, and there it was; double play. The second idiot sales rep was trying to imply that I was confused as I was likely seeing an offer for Optimum West customers only except the website offered the double play based on my address here in New York.

My bill still went up by $15 but it's still not bad.
