NotTheMama posted : Actors, on average, are notoriously shorter than the general population. Many's the time when I've heard/read the comment "wow, he looks so much shorter in person". That being said, then, it's likely that any "tall" actor could play the role well enough (as far as being tall enough goes), even a couple of "short" guys like Levi (6'2") and Pace (6'3"). He doesn't have to be 6'7" or taller to look like the Dresden in the books.

And, sorry, I enjoyed Blackthorne's (6'3") Dresden and the show very much--to each his own. I've actually been watching it again this and last week as fate would have it.
--
"...but ya doesn't hasta call me Johnson!"

It wasn't a focal point of the character. Dresden is repeatedly portrayed as the tallest person in the room, making his interactions with Murphy a bit comical since she's so short. Changing either of their heights would be changing a focal point of the characters.

<said>said by darcilicious:</said>
The Dresden TV series awfulness was NOT due to the actor's height.

Not entirely. They pretty much got everything wrong. It just shows that when you start to change the characters around for the screen, you lose the essence of the character. The more changes you make, the less recognizable the character becomes. If you can't get a simple thing like height correct, then you go on to screw up stuff like changing Bob from a talking spirit in a skull into the ghost of an English butler.

<said>said by darcilicious:</said>
There are plenty of actors 6' and taller who could pull off playing Dresden.

But if you insist, perhaps you think casting should be limited to basketball players.
