I saw one episode of that series and it was so bad I couldn't finish the hour. Which is sad because that series of books could be really good if done right. Well, the first three or four books and the last three were good. There was a lot of useless filler in the middle there, much like the Wheel of Time series.

And, sorry, I enjoyed Blackthorne's (6'3") Dresden and the show very much--to each his own. I've actually been watching it again this and last week as fate would have it.

Cyclops wasn't drawn as towering over everyone else in the comics. It wasn't a focal point of the character. Dresden is repeatedly portrayed as the tallest person in the room, making his interactions with Murphy a bit comical since she's so short. Not entirely. They pretty much got everything wrong. It just shows that when you start to change the characters around for the screen, you lose the essence of the character. The more changes you make, the less recognizable the character becomes. If you can't get a simple thing like height correct, then you go on to screw up stuff like changing Bob from a talking spirit in a skull into the ghost of an English butler.

Agreed. HOWEVER, you're still ignoring the fact that there are far more important characteristics in an actor than their physical appearance being IDENTICAL to their description in a book.

You have missed the point. There is NO REAL REASON why the actor would HAVE to be 7' tall other than some COMPLETELY MISGUIDED NOTION that EVERY detail of a character in a book must match PRECISELY in a film version.

While the actor might need to be taller than most (or at least the rest of the cast), there are FAR MORE IMPORTANT characteristics the actor would need to pull off (like attitude for one).

(Besides which, I believe Harry is only 6" 6' tall, not "nearly 7 feet").

(P.S. look up "lifts".)

(P.P.S. I guess Cyclops in X-men was a total wash since he wasn't taller than everybody else in the movie LIKE HE WAS IN THE COMIC BOOKS).

How many seven foot tall actors do you know of? I suppose they could CGI every last frame of film to make the actor playing Harry look taller but that would be a real pain and rather expensive for what would likely be a low budget film.

Yep, they just sent it to the bindery for printing; and I think I saw TOR announce the first bound copy either yesterday or the day before. I'm so stoked for AMoL, I can't wait for Jan. 8, 2013!

I have another account with audible from many years ago and I have to say, I really like that there's an audible app for iOS now (because going through iTunes was a royal pain) and once I download an audiobook from either account, it doesn't matter which one I'm signed into -- I can access currently downloaded ones from either account.

I'm on chapter 16 and I'm trying to make it last as long as possible :)

The TV series did a great job of taking a very interesting character and making him boring as hell. Read the books.
