Senate bill rewrite lets feds read your e-mail...

quote:
Proposed law scheduled for a vote next week originally increased Americans' e-mail privacy. Then law enforcement complained. Now it increases government access to e-mail and other digital files.

One hopes this won't make it through the House but you never know.

It's become yet another example of Fed-speak. "Privacy protection" bills that erode citizen privacy, "tax reform" bills that raise taxes and open new loopholes, and so on. Just another turn of the Washington political wheel...

Ahh yes, America, the land of the spin doctors. I got a taste of it yesterday in an email from Suddenlink. They no longer have monthly data caps. Instead, they have carefully allocated "allowance plans" to insure that all of their customers have a wonderful internet experience. Ugh!

As for the main post, until email encryption becomes a less daunting task then it seems that anyone in gov't can read whatever they want. I'm sure it's all going to soon be routed through Bob's new data shack in Utah anyway.

Email/texts/tweets/phone calls/etc are already being monitored by Bob. The Utah facility will just add to his capabilities
