<description><![CDATA[nunya posted : It's probably "cell lag" and voip lag added together.<br><br>Think about this trip: Cell A (inbound) -> Cell carrier termination -> VoIP.MS termination -> your PBX -> VoIP.MS termination -> Cell carrier termination -> Cell B (outbound).<br><br>Simplified, of course, but you get the gist of the sentiment. <br><br>Do the old "2 cell phones in the same room" trick. That alone will give you a good idea as to what kind of lag in the cell carriers network alone.<br><br>The only part you have any control over is which VoIP.MS server you use. You might see if there is a faster one. Sometimes the geographically closets isn't always the fastest.<br><br>You could also utilize VoIP.ms FMFM service, although it's not nearly as nice as "full blown" asterisk, it does take two segments out of the route. The huge gaping flaw with voip.ms FMFM service is there is no "remote announce / accept" option ("to accept this call, press blah blah"). Without it, you'll have callers getting dumped on cell phones vmail rather than moving to the next option. Not sure why they've never fixed this.<br><small>--<br>If someone refers to herself / himself as a "guru", they probably aren't.</small>]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[connor79 posted : Hi all,<br><br>We have PIAF on a server in our office connected to our RV110W Cisco VPN router with the proper RTP ports open etc.  We use voip.ms as our voip provider.  Calls work fine, but when we do follow me, it seems like there's a definite delay if I have it set to ring my cell phone.  The thing is when we used our Cisco UC540 system that delay didn't really seem to be there.  I did a test by having my employee call my extension from her cell phone and have it ring to my cell phone.  I then went outside and I had her count 1-2-3 and then I continued 4-5-6 and then she went 7-8-9.<br><br>When we did that, she definitely went 1-2-3 and then I did 4-5-6 immediately after her, but I noticed after I said 6, there was a good 1 second delay before she went 7-8-9.  She said after she said 3 there was a slight delay as well before I said 4.<br><br>It's not terrible, but it almost seems like watching the news when they do a satellite feed.  I'll say something and stop, then there's a second before she would talk, she'd stop and then I'd talk and same thing.<br><br>Would this be more of a voip.ms issue or something else?  We are in Toronto and ping times to the Toronto voip.ms server are around 45ms.  I tried Montreal and it's more like 25-30 so might switch there, but would a shorter ping time help with the delay issue?  Thanks!]]></description>
