Question : telemarketer advice

An unsolicited telemarketer for a cleaning business called again today.

What's my obligation when they show up at the door tomorrow, I don't want their service but I'm tired of the calls.

I'm on the do not call list and reported todays call

Tell them they wasted your time, so you are wasting theirs.

I still get those damned duct cleaning guys calling. When they say "How are you today?" I say "I am going to be really annoyed if you are calling to clean my ducts".

The call centres calling are not in Canada. It is good to report, especially if you have the name of the company they are calling for.

I really hope the truck shows up
I asked for their name and a number. I even called it back to verify, it sounds like the same " dude "

do you think they use an India base call center , it sure sounds like it

Yes, that is a good answer. Claim you know nothing!

he said the call was being recorded, and well into the call asked my permission to be calling me because he knows our number is on the do not call list

I'll answer the door with a phone in one hand and baseball bat in the other

Oh....you agreed. They may be able to bill you for their time and take you to court, send to collections, etc.

The stress from this thread induced a medical emergency. You will not be home. Leave a note on the front door that you had a medical emergency. State if they want to come back a new appointment must be made first.

The stress of receiving an unsolicited phone call and being pressured into something caused it....get them real worried

I'm going to cancel late and not be here . Maybe walking the dog to observe if they show up.

If he knows your number is on the DNCL why are they still calling?

You should have probed them for more information while under the guise that you had interest and used it to file a complaint with the DNCL and CCTS.

As I have said before, tell them you'd be happy to have them come over...... give them the address of your local police headquarters, and tell them to ask for {insert name of local police chief}.

Not sure where the CCTS fits in. They have nothing to do with the DNCL, and we're talking about a cleaning business.

Answer the door naked. If you look anything close to me, they will leave and not call you ever again.

Because they can? They seem to be willing to call regardless.

Today I took his number and once he was off called him back with call block on. It was a good number he gave me, at least for today. Then reported to CRTC DNCL complaints

they won't accept a fake address and make an appointment. He asked my postal code and when I gave him a fake he called me on it. After I screwed up my last name he knew my last name spelling correctly.
Last time I tried sending them across the road and they knew it was wrong. Perhaps they are using 411.ca

So answer the door while sneezing heavily and say, "I think I have Ebola. Would you like to come in?"

Too late to say this, but just hang up. My other option is to ask for the company name and address as I'm on the do no call list (usually at this point they hang up). Another ploy that may help in the future is when you pick up the phone just say hello once, don't repeat it. It seems to screw up the robo calls which seem to wait for people to talk more than once.

Never make an appointment, and if they admitted they knew you were on the do not call list (and were recording the call), then ask them who you can request a copy of the recording from. I admit I don't even play with them any more, I just hang up.

I look forward to their calls. The second someone says the magic words "Duct Cleaning" I scream "F*** YOU!!! GET A REAL JOB!@!!" Then hang up and promptly add the number to the blocked list on my Panasonic phones

After performing this ritual umpty thousand times this summer I am happy to say their calls have slowed to one or two a month now. I honestly figured these guys had been busted by the CRTC by now.

Here's some fun required reading. Forewarned is forearmed...

Waste of time. They're spoofing the numbers anyways.
