Now the orange cords we use to get the power to the christmas lights have ground prongs, in this case I would just get some 3 to 2 adapters.

Why get 3 to 2 adapters? Why not just plug in and leave the ground not connected. That is how I have always done it.

Because a 3 prong orange cord will not plug into a 2 prong outlet. Unless you are some cartoon character not subject to the laws of physics.

Those cheater adapters are dangerous. Most of the time there is no acceptable ground at the box, or the receptacle would have one by now.

Good reason to buy 2 conductor cables which don't have the ground at all.

No more dangerous than the two prong sockets that are in place already. (as long as you don't plug anything in that is expecting the ground to be connected)

They give people a false sense of security, which is far more dangerous than a 2 prong plug used properly.
