Specks of dirt or organic matter will get in the bowl via the tank and plug the idle circuit in the carb. Requires manual cleaning and blowing out passages with compressed air if found that the fuel bowl and fuel tank have been contaminated. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

It's likely dirt in the fuel system, like Doc says, or another possibility is that the governor spring is full of crud (dust, grass, oil, etc) and not allowing it to 'float'. Just hit it with compressed air, if you have access, or otherwise, plenty of carb cleaner will clean it up.
I'm guessing since you're in Ohio, you're not mowing your grass but instead are mulching leaves ! That throws up a lot of debris and gets everything dirty ! |

I suspect the engine is air-starved. Try starting it without the air cleaner and see if it will continue to run. Don't try to use it with no air cleaner in place but see if it will sustain just sitting there on the drive or in the garage. If you can, replace the air cleaner element, or at least, use some compressed air to blow it out from the inside. See if that makes any difference. -- Keep your eye on the ball, your shoulder to the wheel, your nose to the grindstone, and your ear to the ground. Now, try to work in that position!!! |
