Amazon Streaming Videos?

Anyone having any issues with this? I have been using this for several months just fine and it worked yesterday morning. Now all I get is "Unable to connect to video".

I have tried from 3 different browsers and different PCs and nothing works. I have no issues with HD content from you tube.

Try changing DNS? Can you ping the content servers? No work proxy right?

I setup my router to use google DNS and have no issues. Use amazon instant video a ton, been watching 1 or 2 episodes of the xfiles a day for a while now just fine.

I run my own DNS so no issues there. All was fine yesterday, not today. I have tried IE, FF, and Chrome, 4 different PCs (one Linux) and connected a laptop directly to the MODEM bypassing my router, all failed. I have Netflix which works fine as well as all else so I am at a loss here.

I can logon to my Amazon Prime account fine just videos fail to play. Amazon claims they are looking into it but I cannot see how this is their problem.

Since Netflix HD is fine I may not renew the prime account when it expires in January. Just one of those strange Internet things, perhaps it will start working like it stopped working???

Also all speedtests I run show a solid 30/3 speed which is what I pay for.

If it is just today and everything else works its probably them.

They started Black Friday deals (the real good ones) yesterday. So amazon servers are getting hit yesterday today and probably all weekend.

Nice theory but I am sure that is not it. It stopped working for me Wednesday morning and has not worked once since on 3 different machines, 3 different browsers, router or no router. Amazon said the only way they can peruse what may have happened is if I talk to someone at Amazon live, too complex for email. I suppose I will try that when I get some time but cannot do it this weekend.

I still suspect some WOW issue but I have no proof, I changed my IP address 3 times and that was no help either. Odd though because each time I changed my IP I got a new IP from a different IP block. /21 or /22 blocks if you know what that means. Seems like that would not be how it would work, we do not do DHCP at Chrysler like that but who knows. Then again if I am the only person with this problem it may be Amazon but I cannot play movie trailers from then either when I am not even logged on.

Oh Well.

I will pass this information along to our network engineers and see if they have any ideas what would be causing that.

Thanks Dan. My brother lives in Eastpointe MI and I just got off the phone with him. He also has WOW and no Amazon streaming video works for him as well. His prime account works on his Android phone and at work but not via WOW. Mine also works fine at work. Amazon Instant video is not the most popular service and many with Prime never use it. Since it's broken for me it forced me to Netflix which is actually way better but still I want to know why it worked for months and then just stopped last Wednesday.

When I get time I will pursue this with Amazon and if it is a WOW issue, I am sure they will not be pleased by it.

Since I do network stuff for a living at Chrysler I can get WireShark captures, run tests with XP, Win7, Linux, etc. If any WOW person wanted such things.

I am in Dearborn. I have the same problem with Amazon not streaming. I bypassed the router and still not working. I brought laptop into work and can get Amazon streaming just fine.

I spent a lot of time have someone from Amazon go through a lot of checks.

My response from WOW was that it must be my router.

Interesting...

I got an IM from someone in my city on WOW who said it worked but I have more responses from people who say it does not. So I still cannot blame Amazon or WOW for sure. So if anyone in SE Michigan would like to test this, I would appreciate it. Generally if I call either company it will be finger pointing at the other. Been there and done that at the corporate IT level, I know how it works. Debugging such things is not easy. I have been through many several hour debugging sessions at Chrysler involving Microsoft, Akamai (who we use for streaming), Java developers in India, etc. It can be really messy.

You do not need a Prime account to test or even log in, just try to play the trailer on any movie for sale; they all use the same player.

I'm getting Amazon streaming video on Tivo, PS3 and ipad through wired and wireless WOW internet here at home. Haven't noticed an interruption recently and we stream several times a week.

Last night and this morning, the Amazon streaming is working again.

Somebody did something to correct this.

Well is that not amazing, it now works for me as well. I guess we will never know what the issue was or whose issue it was.

I just got off a call for work, 6 hours of network related stuff and all is now working but just like this issue, we are not sure what the actual problem was. Complex networks are well, complex. Chrysler uses FortiGate firewalls and Cisco Nexus gear over OTV, it's complicated.

Thanks to anyone who sent in reports...
