If you told people yesterday that it would be 12 more inches til Spring, they would have guffawed.

One good thing is that it's not going to last. 50s next week! Too bad it's not in the 50s today. |

This one was an annoyance. Not enough to ignore (had to break out the blower) but not enough to generate boasting... - GA |

So I'm going to tempt the Fates by starting a Winter 2012/13 wrapup discussion...Good? Bad?
I'm going to do with "odd" and "inconsistent" for this year. We started early again but then it was dry for a while. Then we had that Christmas storm (I was out of town), then "the big one", then this last one that caught everyone off-guard. It definitely was more snow than last year (which was a bust) but not nearly the constant beating of two years ago.
So was this year "typical"? I've lived here 20 years now and it seems quite odd in terms of inconsistency. But nothing we couldn't handle...
Thoughts?

Don't wrap it up until it's done. GFS shows a few more possibilities between now and the end of the month.
The bright side of this [unless you're a polar bear] is that for the weather at mid-latitudes to stay colder than normal through March will exhaust the supply of cold in the Arctic. Eventually the weather will 'flip-flop' to unusual warmth [or maybe, dare I say, heat?].
The traditional date for southern New England winter post-mortems is April 15th. |

I hated it, and am hoping that this was my final Winter in Corrupticut. |

Snow was too sporadic...I'd rather a bunch of 4"-6" storms than a few monsters.
With that said, take the plows/blowers off and Summerize your blowers....it's time for baseball! |

Looks like we're dodging another bullet this Tuesday. They say it might start off late Monday as a mix, but will quickly turn over to rain (and a lot of it)! If they were calling for all snow, we would have gotten nailed again. Let's hope it stays rain for us! Don't need anymore snow. |

Why don't we need more snow? It's almost all gone off the ground except for the ice mounds left from the blizzard. We've got plenty of room. |

Spent the late afternoon cleaning up all the snow. Had it all done.
Now another half inch of fresh snow on top.
I bet Winter in the Garden District at NOLA could be nice. Ride the streetcar over to get some Acme Oyster lunch. Follow it up with nap on the shady back porch hammock...
Summers on the Maine coast - lobstuh roll for lunch with some cool Pelligrino, nap listening to the breakers...
