What is the "Point of Diminishing Returns" for LTE?

I've read the RSSIs in the -70s are a goal for good 3G and that investing $$$ in amps and external antennas won't show much speed improvements.

Does this apply to LTE also, or is there a different number to shoot for?

Also, what about noise levels? What is a good number to shoot for with noise. Is noise or RSSI more important to achieve the fastest data transfer speeds?

If your lucky, the frequency that the LTE is running on will penetrate better than the 3g signals....

That much I do know
