| In this case it might have been safe using File Hippo but not always.

-- Donne-moi des peanuts, jmen va te chanter "Alouette" sans fausse note Thanks for that. Good read from Bill. Will keep my eyes peeled. I don't think I had any hostages on board. Luckily, I have NoScript and ABP on Fx which likely blocked the bigger download button offered. I didn't even see a download option other than the one at the top right. |

It was not even opened in a new tab. Used to recommend them as a fully trusted site.

 | A little off the topic about this - but it is an javascript/iframe redirect. |

planet join:2001-11-05 Oz kudos:1 | reply to ashrc4 Creepy..when I downloaded adobe, noscript + ABP were fully armed. I didn't allow JavaScript. Will likely pause before using filehippo in the future. |

Still sandboxed with Sanboxie though. -- Paradigm Shift beta test pilot. "Dying to defend one's small piece of suburb...Give me something global...STAT! |

I think this kind of problem will only worsen and become more deceptive, as site/product managers become more clever and desperate for clicks, "referrals," and revenue on a "free" Internet. I'm by no means an advocate of pay-per-view websites, but I keep on getting ever stronger feelings that the revenue model used until now to finance website design and operation is showing more and more cracks near its foundations. -- The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.
