| [DTA] Guide Shows to be anounced I have a Motorola DCT700. This morning I noticed it lost its guide info. I have tried unplugging the box a few times to reset it. I got in to the Diagnostic Screen.
In OOB Diagnostic It shows SNR 0 dB POOR Also Carier lock goes from yes to no
In BAND Diagnostic shows Carrier lock as yes and my SNR is good.
Just checked a Second DCT700 we have and all is good. I would like to mention that the other DCT700 is hooked up to the main splitter. While the DCT700 Im using it hooked up to a splitter that is connected to the main. Im not sure how to check the other boxes on this splitter because they are the simple boxes with no on demand and such. -- Mr. Donut

The Motorola DCT700 is an interactive digital consumer terminal that enables cable operators to cost-effectively deploy an all-digital network. The DCT700: - Supports services such as an electronic program guide (EPG), impulse pay-per view (IPPV), and video on demand (VOD) - Is compatible with existing Motorola analog and digital set-top products - Is compatible with MediaCipher conditional access technology - Provides a real-time return path

 | You tagged the post with "DTA" which doesn't have a guide. So that's why telcodad mentioned it to you as an FYI.
Since it is a full featured box you can also do a second test, OnDemand should also fail since it sends requests via OOB.
The OOB Diagnostic is what matters here, it appears to be dead. It's probably the box, that generally means it needs to be swapped out.
Report that your box stopped showing guide listings and that you cannot use OnDemand (since it should be failing too). They'll pretty quickly remotely check on it and see the same diagnostics you did and authorize the swap. |

While the DCT700 Im using it hooked up to a splitter that is connected to the main. Since the second DCT700 off the main splitter is still working OK, it sounds like the signal levels into that main splitter have dropped to a near-marginal level, so that the extra loss from the second splitter feeding the first DCT700 are now not enough to keep OOB carrier lock and receive the Guide data.
You can try connecting the second DCT700 box in place of the first and see if it experiences the same issue. If so, then it is some kind of signal issue.
If the splitters you are using are not high-quality ones, replacing them with ones that are may give you back enough OOB signal level for the first DCT700 to start receiving the Guide data again.

| Problem is the second splitter is up in the attic and may not be accessible now. Im sure the line is substandard too. Ill test it later. I did call Comcast, according to the rep it is a node issue. I was like ok. But the other box that's the same model has no issue so Im thinking this guy might be talking out his ass. If it doesn't clear up by tomorrow Im going to flip my box with the other to see if it works. -- Mr. Donut

PaulGo join:2005-01-29 Gaithersburg, MD | Where I live the cost of a DCT700 is the same as a HD converter box ($9.95 per month). At that price the DCT700 is just not worth the cost since it has limited memory and can hold only two days of guide information. Consider alternative boxes such as the Pace RNG110 (which can also be used for standard definition), which would cost the same and give much better performance. |

| Do you have to be subscribed to HD service to get the RNG110? Because we have one of the lower non HD plans that Comcast offers. Will I have to go to a Comcast office to change boxes or will they send me one? How big is this box compared to the DCT700, only reason I ask is because the other full feature box we have is a big Motorola box that takes up tons of space. -- Mr. Donut

telcodad join:2011-09-16 Lincroft, NJ kudos:2 | Pace RNG110 If you don't pay the $9.95/mo HD Technology Fee, then any HD box you might get, like a Pace RNG110, will just not have the HD channels enabled.
The Pace RNG110's dimensions are about 1.5"H x 10"W x 7"D, relatively compact as STBs go.

Re: [DTA] Guide Shows to be anounced The fact that OOB show 0dB means it cannot pick up the data feed. As mentioned, you probably have a signal issue, maybe due to a cable or connection that has gone bad. Changing the box will probably not make a difference. You need to trace things back and check what you can. |

If you really need to get one quick from Home Depot, I've used this particular Ideal model with good results: »www.homedepot.com/Electrical/h_d···Id=10053 |

| reply to Donut I check the splitter to see where it was. All the lines were loose. We live between the Expressway and Railroad so our house vibrates. So far Im not see any improvement. I still got TV just no On Demand or Guide. If I dont need to get one Really Quick what do you recommend? Let just say I barley fit through the hole in the attic so I dont want to be replacing that splitter for a very long time. -- Mr. Donut

telcodad join:2011-09-16 Lincroft, NJ kudos:2 | Well, if you're not in a hurry, you can try getting a new splitter from a Comcast tech if you see a truck in your neighborhood, or stop by your local Comcast office and pick one up (usually for no charge).
Otherwise, you can order an Antronix CMC2002H 2-Way Splitter from some place like Amazon: »www.amazon.com/Antronix-CMC2002H···01E4OH1E |
