[TWC] Motorola SB6121 Docsis 3.0 modem not getting any powerboos
I recently bought an SB6121 for use on my standard 10/1 service. I previously had a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, Cisco DPC2100R2. This was a great modem and I had no trouble with it, but I bought the new modem to avoid the new cable modem fee.
Today I activated it and I am getting absolutely NO powerboost (stuck at 10/1). On the previous cisco modem I would get 15 to 16Mbit down on speed tests.
I called level3 support and spoke with a helpful tech who basically told me that the SB6121 does not allow for powerboost (bursting to 15mbit) on TWC and that there MIGHT be a firmware update for it that does allow for it, but he couldn't say for sure. Just to confirm, we swapped in the old Cisco modem and sure enough, I was back to getting burst speeds to about 15Mbit on the Cisco. When I put the SB6121 back on, no burst. Flatlined at 10Mbit.
My question is - is there any hope of getting burst on an SB6121 on standard 10/1 service? This modem is in the list of approved modems from time warner cable. If it is possible, what must I do to achieve this?
If it is NOT possible to get bursting beyond 10Mbit, can you tell me a modem that does? Will the SB6141 do it? It is also in the approved list but has not yet been released to retail (though it is on ebay currently without a warranty). I do not wish to purchase the SB6580 due to the high price and because I do not need the built in router fuction.
Please advise on how to proceed. Thanks in advance!
