[Troubles] Lack of assistance for new customer

I am new to the area, chose Windstream for my hi speed internet. They gave me a Motorola MIPX500 modem that I've hooked up to a Cisco Linksys E1200 router. My connection constantly is dropping (lights on modem stay green) - I've been told that the modem or router may not be compatible or something like that. I cannot get anyone on the tech side to help fix the issue, I just keep getting the run around Any assistance would be nice
