Anyone with GEN4 have consistent Speeds

I was wondering if there is anyone with GEN 4 getting somewhat consistent speeds.
Since doing the upgrade to GEN4 my download speeds have varied throughout the day from over 7 meg to speeds well below 300 kbps. Most of the day its well below 1 meg down.
The speed tests are directly from Hughesnet.
Hughes is telling me there could be a problem with my equipment, and have scheduled a
repair this week.
Looking at the hughesnet community it appears that other are experiencing the same thing.

From my understanding and what I saw with my old HN7000 modem, I saw that HN is forcing everyone without the Gen4 to upgrade to it, I'm not saying its true but its possible however if this is the case then there maybe trouble on the way to Hughes.. I'm a Gen4 customer, yes but the download speed i'm curently seeing is only double the download speed i had with the 7000 so that makes me not impressed much, with the speeds that is and so far thats the only thing. I'm a heavy gamer type and love watching videos and i dont see a whole big bunch of cluster with it except when large amounts of data are being sent back and forth to a gaming server (this is perfectly normal) satellite is and never will be meant for gaming i already know that.

Things load up slightly faster and log on also.. However since our first day with Gen4 I have been seeing red x marks in my downlink boxes straight across, every minute, every hour, everyday so this is definitely on Hughes's end not mine. Good luck to you if you ever do happen to upgrade anyway.

I upgraded to Gen4 last month & found that the download speeds stay in the 4-11 meg range. I have the power max plan plan & never had the 15 meg advertised speed, but 4-11 meg is not bad!

4mb/s - 11mb/s?? Is that what you said? Thats DSL and landline speed.. I think I misread your saying(:

4-11 Mbps that is what I said. I was watching a streaming movie on my Dish Network system last night & my son was watching videos on his computer with no problems buffering. (This was at the same time!)

I wish my speeds would stay reasonable. afternoon they drop below 1 meg. Hopefully when the tech shows up on Friday it can be resolved.
I can understand seeing drops during peak usage hours. but falling and staying below
1 meg for much of the afternoons and evenings in unacceptable.

Got the PowerMax plan. I have NEVER seen 15Mbps or anything close to it which would be about 14Mbps. All I've ever seen is around 10-11Mbps down and barely 1Mbps up.

If they don't get this fixed in the next month, I'm changing my CC information to a prepaid debit card and then I'm canceling and they can try their damnedest to collect the termination fee but they'll never get it.

I'll then go with Verizon HomeFusion, which according to their website says it's in my area. 30GB for $120 a month with far lower latency..

@suddenlink.net

That's sounds like a plan. Since they send me a paper bill in the mail. I think that in a month if it is not fixed I'm going to claim I never got the bill.

I have the lowest plan. However my speed does vary a bit more then I expected with this new satellite. Those results are from the HughesNet speed test site.

I am also able to get Home Fusion now so the web site says, but if you look into it Verizon is having problems with it cutting out 2-3 times a day with no fix in site.

Here we go again... another night of slow speed with the all new Gen4, however rebooting everything seems to kinda work.. Its so weird, your browsing or downloading something and it seems very stable and then the speed just kind of slowly decreases but then goes kinda back up and then dies or continues pushing the downloads. Then after modem reboot and/or even computer reboot the speed slowly comes back after about an hour or usually much less.

I hate this, i can't even stay on my skype and load up google homepage at once, if i do then i get disconnected or my ping sky rockets to 10,000ms like it did just a little bit ago.

It was painful this afternoon. just slow as hell.
I just went ahead a unplugged the modem and restarted. After that my speed tests never got any higher than 3243 kbps. some tests were near 700 kbps.

I've had Gen4 for 1 1/2 months. My experience is the same as others who see 7-9 Mbs in the mornings, and dial-up speeds;.32-.22 Mbs after 7Pm weekdays,Sundays dial-up speeds start at noon.

What I want to know is simple: has there been an improvement in the latency?

i'm not sure if the upgrade is worth it, if there is no improvement there but at the same time I am worried about them doing another forced cutover with no notice again.

Personally I don't expect the wonderment and awe they are promising, but I would like to see some improvement over the current HN7000s

Activation servers have been down all day today.
If they can't keep a simple thing like this going, how in the world are they going to be able to keep the internet running smoothly?
I have empathy for you folks caught in the middle.

I wouldn't bother upgrading.. HNG4 is total crap compared to Exede.

Ping times look ok if you do a `ping -t 8.8.8.8' which will ping Google's DNS servers.

The problem is most likely infrastructure related. HNG4 from what I can tell is using the same ground infrastructure as their legacy service levels. Exede built all new ground bases to accommodate for their ViaSat-1 bird.

There's no reason for such poor service from HNG4, other than HN wanted to save money by cutting corners..

My speeds w/ Gen 4 have been pretty consistent daily aroune 6-8 meg. I did encounter speeds one night during a heavy down pour and wind speeds 30-40 mph around 700 kps.

I am new to satellite internet and have never had exede, so my opinion is based on my last three weeks as a Gen 4 customer.

We will see if Gen 4 can maintain these speeds going forward.

I've not checked my speeds since I signed up with Gen4 last month.
And that's because whenever I'm online, and whatever I'm doing, it "feels" fast........
The only thing I watch like a hawk is my daily/nightly bandwidth consumption.......
