Re: Anyone with GEN4 have consistent Speeds All I want is decent broadband. I live in a magical house within city limits on the MS Gulf Coast that cannot get Cable or DSL; and since satellite was so slow when we moved in, I went with Verizon MiFi. We are using 25 G per month, and it is painfully slow and exorbitantly expensive. So, I was thinking of getting satellite now that it is faster / less expensive. But, in reading, it seems like Wildblue Excede has a major usage meter issue - tons of people complaining in their forums w/ no apparent resolution. And now I am reading Hughesnet doesn't have the speed. I spend a lot of time regretting all of the bitching I did about the high speed cable when I lived in the DC area. We apparently now have 4G, but the MiFi is unstable & constantly going out on the 4G -- probably too high demand for existing towers. Oh, what to do? |

| said by LeahDaisyD :All I want is decent broadband. Thats a tough one... The entire past 3 days my connection speed has been absolutely nothing but slow.... Tried backing up of my games earlier and i find out that I have to update before backing up so i take a look at the size and its 6.6GB and my connection remains EXTREMELY slow at this moment and i have a strong feeling its gonna stay like this..... I'm gonna start using cracks from now on (on my already PAID games) this is just absolutely ridiculous. | Putting cracks on your own paid for games is bad and i fyou think thats bad, some gaming websites are now paying for you to download AND buy the game (separately) and if I were the one doing this, I'd very possibly leave the tech and computer world for good and right now I only have 1 last step closer to do just that. -- HT1000/ BeamID 32/ Power Max plan/ 4 pcs on a D-Link wired router/ wireless D-Link router with password Support only the gaming company's that matter the most, pay for something that actually is worth buying or has a good reason for how much it's worth. |

 | reply to LeahDaisyD I got upgraded 2 days a go . My Hughes test speeds are about 1/4 of the worst I was getting with the 9000. Typical is 200 (yes 200 I didnt miss a digit) and 60. It's been as bad as 70 and 0. The installer swears nothing is wrong. Spent an hour on the phone with support. They concluded it's my PC only I was getting 1400 and 200 with the same PC before the install. Oh and all three PC's I have when connected directly to the modem give me the same results. I should have known. These people are crooks! |

The foreign based tech support is...beyond belief.
The support website... if you can't sing the praises of Hughesnet you are banned from the site. Go over and take a read and you will see more holes in the threads than Swiss cheese. Regardless of platform the ground based part is just overloaded. Never ever ever set up "auto-pay" with these people !
If you make the mistake of doing business with these people..save every scrap of paper, record phone conversations, save any chat dialogs.
In my experience this is not a reputable company. |

| reply to TexasRebel It seems you can only do one thing at a time with Gen4 HT1000 like say your downloading something, well for that time you can only download but cannot upload.. On my modem i'm noticing there is just one cable hocked to the HT1000 and only one cable hock up instead of 2 like the old one, to me this seems as if Hughes is making conjection possible on the customers end only instead of the NOC. On the old HN7000 there are 2 cable ports 1 for downloading and 1 for uploading, now we got this HT1000, so doing downloads and uploads are impossible because the modem just has the 1 port and thats it.
Also with the HT1000 Gen4 you need VERY good weather, with our old HN7000 we would be able to access the net in the middle of a storm, would'nt matter what kind it was. Now with HT1000 you need NO direct sunlight and NO stormy weather or even just 1 visible cloud with the rest of the sky completely clear.
And for the record tonight i'm getting very slugish speeds, its been going on for 4 weeks now, some nights its good and some are bad, yes i'm still getting the "TCP connection amounts issue" is still occuring on my end, not much difference but it passes after a few days, and some nights i can't stay connected to the net, my skype looses connection every few seconds and then comes back online, everything seems fine on the modem though- i would say its NOC end (like always). -- HT1000/ BeamID 32/ Power Max plan/ 4 pcs on a D-Link wired router/ wireless D-Link router with password Support only the gaming company's that matter the most, pay for something that actually is worth buying or has a good reason for how much it's worth. |

Nothing near consistent here. I may as well not have internet at all. Can they really hold you to a contract with this kind of performance? That is like 1/100th of the advertised speed. |

| Even if your house went through a hurricane or was on fire, they will want it back because you have'nt paid for it yet, you have'nt gotten through your contract and there always stingy on whos got there equipment, it must be awfully important to them if there acting this way, and the monthly pay for the best and last plan is pretty expensive if you ask me. -- HT1000/ BeamID 32/ Power Max plan/ 4 pcs on a D-Link wired router/ wireless D-Link router with password Support only the gaming company's that matter the most, pay for something that actually is worth buying or has a good reason for how much it's worth. |

1 edit | reply to diablo1892 having one or two coax cables has nothing to do with the receiving and transmitting of data on the HT1000. Exede uses the same hardware with a single coax and same technology.
HN just has their ground systems so effed up right now that it may never work as good as ViaSat's Exede as far as speed goes. Not unless they let the engineers setup the system like it's supposed to be setup and not set it up according to how management thinks it should be setup, which means cutting costs. |
