Also, you can force an ADSL2+ modem to operate in ADSL1 mode. (provided the modem allows you to change this setting)

For example I'm currently having stability issues at 16mbps ADSL2+, so if I force my modem to ADSL1 it syncs at 8mbps without losing sync on a regular basis. A dumb trick to increase downstream SNR...

The connection hub is backwards compatible but the cellpipe isn't.
