But I still don't understand why the DSL Reports site when setting up the test says that my IP is not pingable, while other test sites, such as www.speedtest.com, do manage to ping my computer and report the ping delay.

That is normal. The routers are just not responding to pings. It has nothing to do with your router/firewall.
