 | [Rant] Greenlife Water filtration sales Had a door-to-door salesman ring my bell this evening. I open the door and he attempts to literally barge in, showing me a picture of a water meter.
Him: "You have one of these?" Me: "Why are you asking?" Him: "I'll get to that in a moment... I'm from Greenlife" and he shows me his "official badge" Me (getting seriously annoyed): "Whatever it is you're selling I'm not interested" and as I closed and locked the door he yells back "I'm not selling anything!!"
Yeah, sure you're not buddy.
What a complete and total asshole. Probably the most aggressive door-to-door salesmen I've ever encountered. Even more aggressive than those water heater and electricity contract cocksuckers.
I did some Googling afterwards and find out this company has been trolling neighbourhoods across the GTA for the past six months using high-pressure sales tactics to get suckers to buy into their overpriced and over-hyped water filtration system. -- "It's all coming down!!" - Mike Holmes |

 | Water meter = water filter? I think the guy was a tad wet on the brain. |

| reply to mr weather It's funny that door to door water [something] bullshit has been going on for at least the past 40 years. Water filtration, water purification, water cleaning, blah blah blah, I'm here to sell you on some kind of crazy idea and here's this dirty water and here's this clean water, see the difference between dirty water and clean water? buy my shit!!! |

 | reply to mr weather We had a water heater salesman come by a while ago.
His script was something like "We are replacing all the rental water heaters in the area with high efficiency units, I just need to come in and take a quick look at yours and then we can finish the paperwork. Should I leave my shoes outside ?"
This happened not long after I had the rental taken out and purchased a new one outright. I told the guy "you don' t have a clue about what's going on here" and "screw off " |

 | Should I leave my shoes outside?
Yeah that was his tagline, pretty original and I still remember it But I just snapped when he said it |
|
 | By the time he figured out you are not letting him in, you will have had the door back on the latch, and he's left a tad dumbfounded on the stoop with no sale. |

| reply to mr weather I had those people at the door about a month ago. They started with the bit that they're here to check out the water, as per the notice sent in the mail. They said that they worked for the city, even though water is done by the region here. They also didn't have ID badges.
I gave them my best, "do you think I'm stupid?" look and closed the door on them. -- Tom |

LOL what a farce! I just had the same thing on Friday. It was for local farmers. Same gambit about free sample of Beef and they wanted to know if I have a deep freeze. I refused to give him my cell phone and that got him upset and confused. He couldn't figure out why I wouldn't give out my personal contact information....
good bye and good night! |

I gave them my best, "do you think I'm stupid?" look and closed the door on them. The city of Kitchener owns their utilities, on all their bills they warn people that they never, ever engage in door to door activities. "If someone is trying to sell or rent you a water heater, it's not from us, be careful." -- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. - Albert Einstein |

LOL what a farce! 1) I don't think you quite understand what "scam" means. Offering a free sample and attempting to set up a sales meeting is not a scam.
2) I can't speak for that company specifically, but those can sometimes be really good deals. |

Google it up, lots of people out there foolishly thinking they're getting an awesome deal and writing out cheques for $3-4K, only to get a fraction of what they were hoping for, mostly repackaged stuff from the local grocer and marked up 100%+ and once the customer wises up to the ploy, it's too late to get their money back, instead getting the cold shoulder from the owners of this company who are laughing to the bank! Avoid these people at all costs! |

And yeah, he was very desperate for work at the time. He didn't use dishonest tactics, so he didn't last long at it and didn't make much money (don't remember if he made any, actually). |
