Makes more sense to just allow in-dash systems to connect to and work thru Bluetooth or WiFi connections to smartphones to update traffic info, map updates, SMS to speech, etc. Who needs another system tied to 1 cell carrier in the car. Better to connect to many different cellphone models using multiple carriers.
Why is there a lot of money to be made here? Every passenger probably already has the internet on their phones. Plus internet at home. I wouldn't mind some integrated features that operate over wifi. However, don't expect me to pay yet another internet bill.
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasury.
