it's bad enough they list sellers by their payment status, but when they start blocking (firearm related) items i am looking for, that's the last straw.

Then use Fx and Google Sharing extension. Problem solved.

I've never heard of "froogle" until now. Plus, I used Scroogle as my search engine for years...so I don't even get the title of this thread. Scroogle was great...Google couldn't track your searches. When the author took it off line about a year or so ago I moved to Google Sharing so Google can't track my searches. I wouldn't use Bing even if their search was better because I don't know of a way block the tracking.

I guess the thing I don't get is the difference between searching on Google "Web" for something I want to buy online, VS going to Google "Shopping" and doing the same search.

Should they not return the same thing if one enters "Where can I buy X online?", as they are using the same search engine?

no. he was complaining about google shopping. it still doesn't work for me, and just about everyone on ar15.com.

they have a serious anti-gun agenda as far as I can tell.

it is my choice AND my right. I don't need them to parent me.

I don't get it either. I want to buy something I put in Google Sharing proxy.

I have no problems getting thousands of returns for the ammo some have mentioned here. Without adding a word like "purchase", plus the particular ammo, I get both shopping sites and sites that discuss the amno, etc. But that doesn't bother me...I just look through the first few pages and try the sites that sell the ammo and ignore the discussion/blog sites.

[Info] Microsoft: You just got Scroogled!

Google Throws Down the Gauntlet, Kills EAS Support
Google just declared war on Microsoft
...

There’s posturing and then there’s outright war. And make no mistake, Google just declared war on Microsoft.

In what appears to be an innocuous post to the Office Google Blog—it’s called Winter cleaning, for crying out loud—Google VP of engineering Venkat Panchapakesan—revealed that Google will be killing off its support of Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) for individuals. Google currently used EAS to sync Gmail-based email and contacts, and Google Calendar-based calendars to mobile devices, including iPhone/iPad, Windows 8 and Windows Phone, and even devices based on Android.

Oddly, Google will continue providing EAS for paid customers on Google Apps, as well as government and education customers. And it will allow devices that are already configured for EAS to continue working. So this begs the question … if you’re going to continue supporting EAS for millions of users, why cut of EAS support for millions of other users?

Because Google is declaring war on Microsoft.

I suppose that is vaguely interesting if you use gmail...I don't so it doesn't affect me. I'd like to see Gmail DEAD as it has ruined email with its spying that is a lot worse than what Microsoft does.

Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Schofield Revolver
I am a research archivist in my line of work the mantra is;
It is better to know how to look something up then it is to know it.

Most people fail to use Google in the correct way and utilize all it a can do. Don't just look at "Google" Google has a series of specialized search engines available. Click on the "more" tab look at the bottom of the pull down and click "Even More". Here you will see all of the services Google offers. Scroll down and you will see specialized search engines. Looking for a magazine article, a rare book, look at Google Books, a research paper, Google Scholar, a Patient, Google Patent Search, Trying to ID a image use Google Image Search. It goes on and on. Google books the last time I checked has scanned in some where around 80 million books. These books go back to the beginning of the printed book in the 16th century.

One of the thing people fail to do in Google is to just ask a simple question. Let's stay with the firearm subject. One of my favorite revolvers is Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Schofield.
Search term: Where can I purchase a Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Schofield

This question resulted in; About 69,800 results (0.39 seconds)
The prices range from many thousands for an original such as the photo above to around a thousand for a beautiful modern, shootable, reproduction.

Smith & Wesson custom shop is again making the No.3 beautifully engraved .
»www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/···orView_Y $4500 dollars

Or you can get what would be my choice, Uberti "Break Top",
No 3 Russian. $1013.00
»www.uberti.com/firearms/top-break.php

Just ask a question, it can be fun thinking up search terms.

Just go on thinking Microsoft does not spy on you big time. Unless you purchase one of the e Mail clients that doesn't when you do anything on the Net you just might as well get naked in a glass house.

Re: [Info] Scroogled! Microsoft Gets Aggressive in Fight Against

I never said I couldn't get results for a search----I can't get SHOPPING results. if I do, there's like 3 results from PAID SPONSORS.

I frequent 3 or 4 sites for my ammo (the same 3-4 that 99% of the forum members use at ar15.com). NONE of them show up in google's SHOPPING results, and they're well known established businesses.

go to google.com------>more------>shopping and try to get any useful results.

when I type in "Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Schofield" I get results for 2 holsters and a DVD.

when I search ".40 S&W ammunition" the closest I get to ammunition is spent brass.

Click for full size
so the company that wants to rule the internet (possibly the world?) will filter it's shopping results and show only PAID vendors. that's complete bullsh*t to me, as they didn't do that around a year ago.

not to mention I can't seem to get prices on actual firearms. I guess they have an agenda...........

Funny how many times you have been required to state and re-state that in this thread. Never mind the wild co-incidence that this entire thread is about Google SHOPPING and what Bing is doing about it.

More likely a good portion of Google users, and some of us who don't use Google regularly, don't know that there is more to Google than, "Google".
