Item Level Upgrades
• Players can now use PvE and PvP currencies to directly upgrade equipment by visiting Ethereal merchants in their respective Pandaria faction capitals.
• Weapons and armor of item level 458 or higher can be improved by up to 8 item levels each.
• Rare quality PvE gear costs 1500 Justice Points to upgrade once for 8 item levels, while Epic quality PvE gear costs 750 Valor Points for 4 item levels and can be upgraded twice.
• Rare quality PvP gear costs 1500 Honor Points to upgrade once for 8 item levels, while Epic quality PvP gear costs 750 Conquest Points for 4 item levels and can be upgraded twice.
• Be aware that items that have received item level enhancements cannot be placed into Void Storage.

For the record, I like this.
I do not grind rep on alts, even though I need the patterns and recipes on the selected professions.
So I had some Valor and Justice points on toons.
Also like the BOA Rep buff Tokens that once Revered on your Rep Main Toon will allow the purchase of tokens for around 40 gold, that gives a buff to "ALL toons on this account by 100%" for the specific factions Reputation gains.

I probably wouldn't upgrade a weapon unless it had a Sha-touched gem slot if I were you.

I know I'm not.

I would, especially if it's a heroic weapon. Best way to increase your dps (that and upgrading your trinket--the proc gets upgraded too).

It does give you something to spend VP on if you're approaching cap and have nothing else to spend it on. Which I highly appreciate.

i don't plan on raiding but do plan on casual pvp so I can see where this will work to my benefit if i can get hands on a pve weapon...i'm assuming this works with pvp weapons as well but uses honor instead?

My DMC only increases intel by 17
it DOES NOT INCREASE THE PROC

Did you look at the proc after upgrading it? AFAIK it won't show the proc being upgraded in the Upgrade window if it is pending, but it does indeed upgrade:

Loving that the week this comes out our two melee dps both got their 2h Elegon sword on their bonus rolls (after having no melee dps weapons this expac for our guild, including LFR).

Two guys going from 463 -> 497 weapons (2/2 up'd) is going to be fun times for us : )

Debating whether it's worth the valor to spend points to upgrade a 483 LFR weapon /w Sha-touched socket. Not sure atm...

Slightly off-topic, but related - once you have the part of the gem questline to kill Sha of Fear, does this require normal or does LFR suffice?

10/10 Sigil of Power and 6/10 Sigil of Wisdom atm : )

We're not to Terrace just yet, but hoping we'll be there soon now that we've replaced enough 'problem' people holding up progression.

Pretty excited that it seems that the upgrades will cover your DMC trinket proc as well. Makes that a very tempting first option also.

I would assume that LFR Sha of Fear would count.
after all you can get the Sigils in LFR.

though the drop rate off LFR sha might not be 100% like in reg.
