[FP] (2) Foldy blades are offline

Appears to be some kind of power problem. ETA for repair, sometime tomorrow.

D'oh! Good luck getting them fixed! Hopefully it isn't anything too serious!

Back online. The UPS system supporting these blades failed.

Thanks for the fix! Do you need cash for a replacement UPS?

No, the UPS was never part of Foldy inventory, it's just something I do as a matter of course for equipment protection.

OK!

As though to emphasize the need for such protection, about 40% of my city lost power suddenly yesterday, including our office building. All the computers except the server (which is on a UPS) shut down rather messily. I spent the whole night worrying if everything would boot up in the morning.

This must be the time for UPS's to fail... one of mine died yesterday... (man, those things are heavy when you have to pull them out of the rack...)

Oh well, I wanted to replace it with a bigger one anyway, but I was hoping to wait until spring. Time to go shopping around.

You guys prompted me to check on mine. I am seeing 118v in and out, used to always show 120v in and out. I wonder if mine is possibly starting to show signs of going?

Nah. Incoming voltage varies all the time. As long as it's between 110 and 125, I don't worry about it.

Main thing to worry about is age of the batteries. 2-3 yr lifespan is the norm on the SLA batteries used. Much past that, and you're living on borrowed time.

Thanks, I am right about at that time frame on the battery, I think I'll look into getting a new battery.

Try batteryspec.com . That's where I get mine, and they cost a lot less than the mfgrs charge...
