Tamcotec? Anyone heard of them?I've scoured the Canadian ISP website and they look like they have all the things I'm looking for: Usenet, Webspace, plenty of email addresses, decent price (29.99/25.00 for first 6 mths) and sorta local (Toronto)
They got good reviews/rating (71%) |

Yup, reseller of start.ca The very worse reseller website of all time was westsavvy. If ever you had the chance to have seen it you would think that tamcotec website is pro and excellent compared to westsavvy. It was plain scarey and horrid. I haven't seen anything come close to that yet. » TSI resellers suckIt was amazingly horrid. tamcotec just looks like it's someones first webpage. No comparison. |

Start reseller eh? What are the ups and downs of going with a reseller as opposed to the original?
If Start is as good as the reviews make out then I imagine you'd be inheriting a good set up. Would the downside be a markup? It seems they charge the same as Start does...
The problem with Start itself is they seem to offer no webspace/usenet. I haven't actually phoned them to find out though. After all where shall I put my 1995 vintage Home Page?
p.s. I adore their webpage. Reminds me of the good old days. But that alone is not enough reason to sign up of course. |

I personally don't see any ups to going with a reseller, only downs; -You have to wait longer for any service issues you have to be corrected -They charge more -You are still getting the service from source provider so why not go with the source anyhow. Tamco Tech charges $75 or $100 for activation yet Start only charges $50. Tamco Tech charges $45/mo + tax for Regular-Cable, with Start I pay $39.95 + taxes for the exact same thing. said by MXB:If Start is as good as the reviews make out then I imagine you'd be inheriting a good set up. "Google free web hosts"
Hrm, you get what you pay for though. Free web hosts will likely be poor. No free usenet, that I know, I've googled that in the past. |
|

Free usenet Bundled with ISps tends to suck ballz. and have slow speeds or poor retetion, u can buy astraweb for 8/month and get Great usenet, And Again Purchase your own webhost thats Good Bundled ISP options for these are on par with what u would get in the free Section, Ps there are Free IPv6 usenet providers out there. |

I did look at usenet today, there is free text discussion access out there which is good enough, just want to talk to intelligent people again like in the old days of the internet, don't really need the alt.binaries! |
