Re: Just signed up for 3Mbit service, MA Verizon territory

It's working well thus far. I have streaming internet radio, Skype, and watching a streaming game video (twitch.tv) page.

The streaming game video page freezes up sometimes, but that might be the stream and not my connection. The venue was streaming with a cell phone and 4G to twitch.

I noticed that web pages do load slower than on FIOS 30/25. Even primarily text-based forum pages. Which surprised me. But Speedtest.net pegs my latency at around 60ms, which seems slightly high to me. When I had Verizon DSL on this same line, I thought I got 30-35ms pings to google.

Downloads take 10 times as long, which is as expected, since my speed is 10x slower. (350KB/sec, rather than 3.5MB/sec)

All in all, the service seems ok. The absolute price is better than FIOS by far.

Edit: ping www.google.com
