It's happening again.

 | reply to dgass I (and I hope we) appreciate all users sending their positive results about "cool" connection they have with TekSavvy.
But ... we are really interested in catching the existing problem based on the professional opinion of some of us. So, PLEASE, do not spam this thread with just results of "speedtest.net".
Sorry and thank you in advance! |

| Who do you think you are? Join date of less than 6 months ago and you know all? I'm posting here to give my results on a VDSL connection with my first test as a baseline during nonprime time. I use an @wiredhighspeed login. Here is the same trace and speed test at ~8pm Sunday
Tracing route to speedtest.teksavvy.com [206.248.140.50] over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 4 ms 2 ms 2 ms unknown [192.168.1.1] 2 12 ms 12 ms 11 ms lo-100.erx06.tor.packetflow.ca [206.248.154.106]
3 12 ms 10 ms 10 ms 2110.ae0.agg01.tor.packetflow.ca [69.196.136.44]
4 11 ms 19 ms 10 ms speedtest.teksavvy.com [206.248.140.50]
Trace complete.

And it's not spam DB.
Edit: I'm one of the people that Doesn't see much of a problem. So this may help TSI track stuff down. |

TypeS join:2012-12-17 London, ON kudos:1 | Are @wiredhighspeed.com logins mlppp logins? I never got around to setting up MLPPP while I still had DSL. |
|
dgass join:2007-09-27 Etobicoke, ON kudos:1 | Ya. That also means that I'm always on the same erx, as all MLPP traffic goes through it. Or so I remember. If they have changed it then my mistake. |

| So perhaps everyone on the MLPPP (@wirehighspeed.com) and IPv6 (@hsiservice.net) logins experiencing slow speeds in the evening should try their regular @teksavvy.com logins if they have not yet? Would be useful information for TekSavvy as it establishes a pattern. |

 | reply to torobull123 I just ran some speed tests. Switched several times to confirm. Results are consistent.

I will only post most if my results over the next few evenings are different. Hope this helps. |

I'm telling you tsi-marc this is not right. It didn't used to be this way either. I'm willing to help debug this any way I can. I'll send packets to IPs, do tcpdumps, whatever. Just let me know. I just want this solved! |

Just sharing. |

 | reply to TSI Marc Marc, How about the IPv6 logins seeing massive congestion (i.e. 1Mbps throughput on a 25Mbps connection) when the IPv4 ones only see a little congestion? Do you have an update on that as well? |

Re: [DSL] Network congestion tonight? Anyone have an idea!! thanks s0dhi. Since most of the time it is only running around 1% it is often quite hard to "catch it in the act". I've got smokeping running on my router which logs and graphs the pings 24x7 so I can see it quite easily. It also seems to generally be worse at night (peak hours). Thanks for trying anyway. The more people can post information the better right? |

Just to confirm that another family member in another part of the city (20km as the crow flys) has the same issue. He is also on 25/10 VDSL2.
I had forgotten to do ping tests until now, when Dad was noticing a video was super choppy on him... I did a speedtest and found that I'm only getting half of the bandwidth I should be.
Anyway, I'm seeing 2% packet loss on 100 pings (!):
--- 206.248.154.122 ping statistics --- 100 packets transmitted, 98 packets received, 2.0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 21.482/51.476/497.856/72.418 ms
It seems to be most noticeable from 12:00 to 24:00. The image above is from my line. You can clearly see the repeating loss pattern. Ignore the spike in the middle that was when I forced a disconnect / reconnect. |

Re: [DSL] Network congestion tonight? Just thought I'd add my voice here, as I'm seeing this as well; first noticed it sometime last week when I moved some equipment around and re-cabled some things; did some quick checking to make sure I hadn't broken anything and discovered that UL/DL and pings were all out of whack (normally I'm 200ms and speeds were 4mbps--again, all on the @hsiservice login; @wiredhighspeed seemed fine. Also, this is well past midnight; haven't had a chance to test in the 18:00-00:00 bracket.
Not a huge problem at the moment, but something's broken somewhere, and that doesn't usually lead to hugs and puppies. |
|
 | Looks like odd pingtests were back for me as well tonight even on my @teksavvy.com login...
Not quite as bad as my @hsiservice.net login but still far from ideal. |
