Bigbird, you should first determine whether you own or leased the equipment. Wildblue/Exede has a history of assuming that the customer leased the equipment even though he owns it. Customers who signed up back in 2005 and 2006 (I do not remember the date when they switched from selling to leasing the equipment) purchased the equipment and are not required to return the modem and TRIA.
If you leased the equipment, you might be able to get a refund if you return it. Call customer service and complain that they did not provide you with a pre-paid shipping box.
