Re: [Serious] Typhoon Bopha: This one headed towards my family The eye of the storm is tracking over Mindanao, I got ahold of her. She said Mindanao is signal #4 and Cebu is signal #2 (she says it goes 1-4). It looks to me like the top part of the typhoon will go over her, but indeed, it looks as though the center of the storm is going to pass over where she WAS living in Mindanao. Indeed, many need prayers, so I don't want to be selfish in not thinking of the many who are going to endure the worst part of the storm.
Last night (here) the track had the eye going just about 5 miles south of Cebu City. It now appears that it's tracking more to the South over the top part of Mindanao, she says they are already getting heavy rain where she is, so she is getting the storm, but not dead on, thank goodness for us.
There is a Barangay bus that will evacuate them to a school in the coming hours if needs be, I made her promise to me that she takes it. She's kind of stubborn though (makes her cute but frustrating at times).
So she is in the path much like CT was affected by the storm the other day, the top edge of the storm and the flooding. Her roof can't take much so I will know more in the AM here...
When you observe hurrican tracks, they only show the center, the eye of the storm and where it's going. The full breadth of the storm is not shown in a track.
This here shows the full storm:

If she gets 60MPH winds, it could knock down her place even so.
I am thankful that the eye won't pass over her. But she'll be on the dirty side of the storm... -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. | I know. And I didn't want to sound like what I sounded like too, I know.
I just called her again. They are watching the news and keeping apprised.
Since I get up at 4:30, I'm gonna turn in, though I feel a little bad about doing it, but I can't function without sleep at my job (can any of us?)
I believe they'll pull through and the house will be ok, but the heavy weather isn't there yet, so time will tell.
Thanks to all of you, you're all such good good folks!
They are all trying to rest now because once the flooding starts, there is nowhere to sit or lay down., they just stand in water until it recedes. She doesn't want to go up the mountiain because they are talking of possible mudlsides.
ok, in any event, I've had my sleeping pill and I'm starting to fade, time to pray once more and then crash.
