Professions: Looking for Amounts of resources needed.I keep stubbing my toe, and having to go backwards and gather more mats to gain skill in my professions. For example: I have a blacksmith. I thought I was done with Iron, only to realize I needed more iron to make steel. So I had to go back a zone and mine what I thought was enough iron. It wasn't because the item I was making used 15 steel [I think].
anyhow, is there a web site that tells you what types of resources you need to level the profession?
*Note: I am aware of the questionable sites where you can buy a "resource" kit. That will get you from zero to make in an hour or so. That isn't what I'm talking about. I knew of a site that would say: Blacksmithing: Make 30 course grind stones. keep them for the next item. But skill from trainer, now make such and such item. Sell the product to npc, or an enchanter. And they'd tell you how many iron ingots you'd need to get through all that stuff. |

Now to find a whole bunch of purple lotus for alchemy lol.
And the elixir of ogres strength for my alchemist. Guess a run through Black fathom will be needed. |

Purple Lotus is in Felwood, usually around any of the ruins. You can also get it as a drop in Maraudon and Dire Maul. |

Felwood is a great place to herb. You'll get your purple lotus and gromsblood.
Also second the wow-professions site, though it is set up to get you from 1 to max level as quickly as possible, so if you're wanting a crafted item or potion/flask for leveling you'll want extra of those mats. |

Thanks everyone. That wow-proffessions site is very helpful.
Now the question is: Get to 90 first, then professions, or do professions as I level?
*Edit: I know the gathering professions are easy to do while leveling, so I guess the question should be: Should I enchant, alchemy, blacksmith, engineer, leather work while leveling? *I don't have a scribe. |

get to 90... then worry about professions, IMO. |

said by Snakeoil:Now the question is: Get to 90 first, then professions, or do professions as I level? If you have matching professions, i.e. herbs/scribe, do as much as you can while leveling. If you have to buy mats or transfer from another toon do it when you feel like it. I'm having some issues leveling professions with my monk. Running as much heirloom gear as possible I'm getting about two levels per dungeon run so I'm leveling faster than I'm gathering. If you see you're having the same issue you might want to wait for 90. |

I've noticed how fast monks level. my panda monk is nearly ready to hit Burning Crusade lands. And I already have 2 lev 63 toons there. I wish there were more zones to lev up in then just the zone cycle introduced in Burning Crusades.
Meaning before lev 60, I could level up one either continent and had a couple of zones to pick from. |

Depends on the crafting. Alchemy is nice to level up as your toon levels if possible for the potions and elixirs. My monk is lvl 55 and already is alchemy 375 and I have agility and AP elixirs to combine with the full BoA to be even moar OP. Too bad his herbalism is still 125ish, like others noticed, they level way too fast to keep up with gathering. The other crafting skills are almost useless for leveling, engi might give a few perks, but the rest you'll out level the gear too quickly. |
