<description><![CDATA[jmck posted : TSI like other ISPs needs to buy bandwidth/connectivity to the rest of the internet from usually Tier 1 providers.<br><br>You can think of TSI as being a grocery store, the store doesn't actually produce all the food, the buy it from suppliers and resell it.  Furthermore a grocery store won't just offer a single brand, they'll offer multiples (Coke, Pepsi, etc) of the same product.  <br><br>Having multiple providers means TSI's routers can choose which provider to use for getting to a certain site (usually picking the best one), it also allows for it to not be affected as much if one of their providers go down.]]></description>
