You can think of TSI as being a grocery store, the store doesn't actually produce all the food, the buy it from suppliers and resell it. Furthermore a grocery store won't just offer a single brand, they'll offer multiples (Coke, Pepsi, etc) of the same product.

Having multiple providers means TSI's routers can choose which provider to use for getting to a certain site (usually picking the best one), it also allows for it to not be affected as much if one of their providers go down.

Good times.

That was not a very good setup and added unnecessary complexity for TSI. There has been no necessity to do so for a long time.

I thought those 3 were to only big providers at least in toronto, what others are there for isp transit?

No, no one said that at all. Besides you're talking about different sets of people dealing with different parts of a very large company.

Sounds good. Keeping the capacity up on the transit side will mean we have good confidence in the core TSI network. So with the new node in NYC we'll see traffic go further on TSI's own network before it's handed off to other peers or transit providers?
