I am over 5 miles from the tower I get service from. Per the Clearwire service map, I am in a fringe area, but I get great speeds. I have my Series M modem mounted in a shelf near the ceiling on the 2nd floor. The only mod I have is a home made corner reflector behind the modem. (12 X 24 sheet of stainless steel from Lowes with a 45 degree bend. Crude, but it gives a clearly measurable gain in signal) I would try that first before spending money on an antenna. If it does not work, then you move up... Good luck. |
