Inside the Beltway: Drones for journalists

quote:
Here comes the fly-by media. Preliminary use of diminutive drones is under way among those who see the potential of drones in news gathering, not to mention invasive “gotcha”-style journalism.

I have some laser pointers that might be seeing more use in the near future.

Maybe we should lobby for an FAA regulation requiring a 200-lb IFF transponder package on all drones...

If nothing else, they'd then have to be big enough to hit.

Well no doubt people will find all sorts of inventive (and legal) ways of taking these things out.

I'm guessing a garden hose could take out a low flying small drone.

Only after they Patent drones as an Apple invention.

Go ahead, fly your media drone near our Drone Research Center, but don't be surprised when it mysteriously crashes as one way to bring down a drone is with another drone which autonomously locks onto the signals from the target drone. Good luck getting your crashed drone back after crashing on our private property.

Oh I published the idea in a public form, so I guess its no longer patentable as now its existing art.

Can the media get any lazier? Or are they just too busy getting their hair done to spare the time?

Much more with this drone business and killing them will become an Olympic sport, with points for style and creativity.

I'll have to get to work on that squadron of armed scale-model P51s.

As long as they use the drones to cover stories about government erosion of privacy, what's the problem?

Did I ever tell you about the pilot that somehow got confused about his radar jammer and IFF?

We almost blew him out of the sky whilst traversing the waters around Cuba in '62.

But back to the subject at hand; drones.

How are you all today?

An observation of forum content if I may.

The phrase "tin foil hat" seems to have disappeared.

Congratulations people!

You're gettin' it slowly but surely!

I put one of those on a drone; but it went out of control!
