There is hope. My boyhood stomping grounds were pretty repressed back in the day. Not much going on, little opportunity and lots of social problems.
Fast forward 30 years and now it's one vineyard after another. Although that's not going to happen everywhere.
The real equalizer is broadband. People like myself come (back) to the area and bring a good paying job with them.
