It will be interesting to see how they hold up vs the commercial types. I understand your concern over the light distribution. All the ones I've seen just have the bare LED die. They come on instantly and appear to be quite bright. Past experience with LED lights would give me a concern of the beam pattern of the lights as what I have seen in the past was much more of a spot light as opposed to a flood light.]]></description>

I think there is confusion as to what you want. As nunya points out 2 50W LEDs are a lot of light. That's quite a lot of light for a motion detector. <br>Most motion detector fixtures use 2 x 90W halogen lamps.<br>If you are really looking for 5000 lumens from an LED motion detector, you are going to be looking at a specialty or custom fixture. And got information  for all sorts of things, OTHER than what I was asking  for.    I didn't think it was that complicated, really...<br><br>Since I posted, I contacted a few companies selling them, asking:<br>How it works in high humidity areas (Smokey Mountains); Questions on strange wiring color codes that I've seen on reviews, Realistic Motion Detector range; and overall reliability.....  Questions that a prospective consumer might logically ask....  You know, kind of like what I asked here???<br><br>Believe it or not, I got two answers that they are NOT MADE for  High Humidity  areas!  A Waterpoof enclosure Not intended on being used in High Humidity areas.... What a Selling Feature!<br><br>So I'm still looking, but letting some time go by....  Somehow what I'm looking and asking for isn't that complicated.   I've got 3 different incandescent Motion Detect lights running in Illinois for over 10 years.... It seems a bit unusual that I can't find a decent review of an LED equivalent with high power.<br><br>Maybe time will improve the product..<br><small>--<br>Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle</small>]]></description>

Much easier to troubleshoot and you are not out a ton of money if the fixture fails.<br><br>I installed a motion detector light on the back of my duplex a few years ago and I replaced the 75W incandescent bulbs with 38W LED bulbs that I got for $25 a piece that were cheap because of a utility rebate. I also got Sylvania LED bulbs (A19 shape) for $4.99 at the local supermarket because of an instant rebate from Northeast Utilities.<br><br>With the high utility costs in this part of the country, I have taken some drastic measures to cut energy usage.]]></description>

To contradict this, my neighbors has had multiple Incandescent MD fixtures that have been in service for years, and he states as long as the implemented range of MD is less than the 'claimed' MD Range, it has been quite successful, for years.... His fixtures were Big Box purchases with the Incandescent lamps.   So I know these things can work.  I'm hopinng to Save Operational costs after the install (New Construction--House is not built yet)..<br><br>I'm hoping to Emulate what Neighbor has done: (If the MD Specs at 70' use it at 50') and by using 2 cover a larger area, and save operational $$ by going LED, as opposed to doing Mercury Vapor, Incandescent, or CFL.<br><br>But, as others have posted, I'm not finding stellar reviews of any unit, and some of the posts could be installation or operator errors.  Since I've read good reviews on items here in the past, I thought I'd ask for your real works experiences.....<br><br>So... If anyone has real world experience on them.... Buying at a local B&M place gives me somewhere to return them quickly.<br>These days, pretty much all MD lights behave the same when power is interrupted. What about a dusk to dawn light (possibly bug light) and then adding motion light. With some always on lighting you get some security vs total darkness luring the bad guys in close. With two stage there is an awareness that there is some lighting and the they get the big search lights if they get too close.  Just a thought....]]></description>

The overwhelming response from *actual burglars* when questioned about such things is that they avoid well-lit areas at all costs. I have personal experience with that. The motion-sensing version does not provide that initial reaction. and they are often able to be avoided if carefully approached.<br><br>That being said, a trip to your area electrical lighting supply house would be in order. Much better quality stuff than Lowes Depot etc, and you can talk to a real-live person which can actually answer questions about your concerns.<br><br>But again, keep them on---all the time.]]></description>

I'm looking for people who are using this product; are happy with it; and would recommend it to others.<br><br>Looking for 2 ~50 Watt LED  Waterproof Motion Detect Lights.<br><br>One to be mounted on garage aimed at driveway and side of house, and other to be mounted on house aimed toward top of driveway and side of garage.... (Not directly across at each other, tripping the Light sensor so one or other would not come on.)<br>They will be powered from a system that tests it's backup generator once every 2 weeks, so it must automatically reset itself.<br><br>I'm looking for an honest 50' or better motion detect range,  and even though they will be mounted under the roof eaves, decent waterpoof enclosures....  and good light output.<br><br>I've gone to big box stores, but not seen them in operation, just sitting there.   I've searched and found many (Primarly China) sites selling these....
