Re: Windstream High-Speed Internet: STAY AWAY!

Cable fed broadband is a dream for many of us on this forum. Windstream's failure to upgrade where needed while continuing to add more accounts on overburdened lines is catching up to to them in so many places. It's ridiculous how many people have the same latency issue, city to city and state to state.

I was told my equipment was first approved for funding and then being worked on. I received updates and the engineers were confident in their ETR which was this past March. When my ETR passed and I inquired details, total confusion set in surrounding my upgrades...surprise, surprise.

Fast forward to today and now I've been told my equipment was never being worked on specifically! Come again (my response)!?!

The latest is that work is being done to surrounding areas that might give Campobello, SC some relief. You tell me how it's even possible to have this type of miscommunication in such a large supposedly organized company.

Windstream is deceitful in their promotional speeds (you will be lucky to get 20% of it) and are willingly adding more users to equipment already maxed out, knowing their current loyal paying customer base will suffer with every new account. It's disgusting...

My only hope lies in Aaron (within this forum) and Michael ( a Tier II Supervisor). Aaron has helped since last July and now Michael is reaching out to higher management to get the upgrades I was promised many months ago. Until that happens I will continue to do all I can to have the company investigated and articles written on their poor service in my area. If you don't have a NC Investigation thread I would recommend starting one!

Dan. Is the windstream hub at Patterson and Runion Rd"s?
I see their trucks there all the time.
There is one there every day at lunch time.

And I see them there when the service is out.

I'm pretty positive it's on Patterson. If you see one out there and have a chance, speak to them and ask if our DSLAM is receiving upgrades anytime soon. Let them know we have been told our area was supposed to receive upgrades in March and was approved for the new equipment in 2013. I never see them but will ask the same if I happen to see a tech stopped on Patterson. Have you seen any signs of new hardware?

The service guy that came here personally would not say a word.
I am certain it is one of the same trucks I see there almost everyday.

Seems one leaves his truck there and another drives to lunch.
Windstream is probably to cheap to allow each person to drive to lunch.

You know, that does make sense for them. Even though it sounds silly.

Sworn to secrecy like the phone based customer service reps, lol. Once they realize the customer figures out that the infamous "Latency Outage" that Windstream likes to throw around only means their equipment is oversold and therefore over burdened with traffic they get quiet real fast.

"We see you have a latency outage in your area, we are sorry for this inconvenience, here is a $10 credit for your $50 bill for dial up internet service." What a joke...

I have never been given a credit. However, I did say I wanted one in my complaint.

I also suggested they stop selling subscriptions until they can provide a basic service to their existing customers.

Lets keep up the good work!

John you are definitely due a monthly credit till our upgrades are delivered. Even then it's only $10 off a $50 bill so we are still paying over $40 dollars for dial up like speeds.

I've contacted several AT&T reps since they do offer DSL in our area but right now they don't service my address. I am trying to work my way up to some higher connections there to address how many dissatisfied Windstream customers exist in Campobello, SC and we would all jump ship without a doubt to their 6MB plan if available.

I would suggest calling in as well and requesting our location be added to the list for future service.

Latest recap of the circus show act provided by Windstream -

On February 26, Aaron confirmed funding was approved not only for the DSLAM but the AGG - "Correction, Just got the second issue approved for funding! Site made the 2013 list. The ETR is 3/29/13. "

On March 12, Aaron confirmed again the funding was approved for all repairs in 2013- " On a bright note I have gotten the funding issues corrected, there will be no more confusion as to whether or not funding was approved (considering work is currently going on you would assume people would make that jump in logic . . . .). I will try to gather more info, in the next day or so."

On March 13, Aaron received word from the Engineers - "As of right now the Engineers seem pretty confident that they are on track."

On March 14, Aaron confirmed the repairs were in full effect - "Work on the DSLAM is moving again!"

Then on March 27, merely days before the propsed ETR, I receive this message - "I am still waiting to here back from the Engineers. But based on a cursory exam it looks like the AGG ticket is closed and the DSLAM is pushed way out. You may not remember but I had mentioned that your DSLAM is being upgraded as part of the Federal Stimulus project. I am wondering if the fact it is a stimulus project has something to do with why it is pushed out. I will let you know what I come up with."

On June 7, ""Sorry for the delay in responding. I have spent some time traveling for work lately. As Aaron stated I have been in communication with upper management about this area to see what changes can be made. We still do not have any work scheduled on your particular DSLAM but we are working on the other network elements that your DSLAM shares bandwidth with. We expect the work that we are doing on those elements are going to have a positive impact on your connection as you will be sharing less bandwidth with those elements. Unfortunately since the work is not being done directly on the Campobello DSLAM I can't predict the extent that you will feel relief. I did recently get some visibility in to the Campobello network so I can see what the utilization is out there as these projects are being completed. The last time I looked the utilization was still pretty high wich comfirms what you are experiencing on your end. As these projects get completed I will continue to check the utilization and let you know when we expect you to feel some relief on your end."

On June 26, a neighbor of mine received the following information "Dan, Just received a letter from Dept. of Consumer Affairs, along with windstreams response.

Without posting the complete letter, I can tell you we are not going to see any relief.
They are going to give me a $10.00 credit until June of 2014.

They also admit to the issues in Campobello directly and in writing. They have told me there are no upgrades planned for us.

Have I given you my phone number? I can let you read the letter from both the agency and windstream, if you are interested.
Since they told you upgrades were coming, we may have some ammo?

Let me know.............John"

Damn I hate to see that. "'m sorry to see you are doomed for another year of this robbery. I have been given the same exact treatment as well. I hope for your sake this is resolved and I also have hope that if they actually fix your issues then maybe one day before I die of old age I will actually get what I was promised!!!

Slow Windstream DSL
Robbery is a great way to term what Windstream is doing to their customers Gathis.

Another horrendous day of internet speed here in Campobello, SC. 0.49Mbps downloads...hello dial up. Paying $47 a month (3MB plan) for 0.49Mbps which includes their $10 credit. Tell me that's not crooked!!

And windstream is actively soliciting fast internet even when they cannot provide basic service to their existing customers.

Criminal!

Internet nearly unusable. Latest from Windstream - " Unfortunately this known issue is still an open ticket and shows your account was escalated to Aaron. I do understand I am very sorry for this. Currently it shows July 31st as for estimated repair time but again looking at the history it seem they have this due date change for the 2nd time now."

Liars. There is no plan to fix anything in our area. They told me they had no plans for our area in 2013.

I am willing to bet, they do nothing for us until competition comes in.
Should Charter come into our area, people will be jumping ship like rats when the ship is sinking.

These criminals know we have no ammunition. They know we are stuck with them or Dish.

They are now saying we have other choices by bringing Dish Network into the mix.
I have DirectV and I am not leaving direct. Its better than Dish and it has the NFL Sunday Ticket.
No F**king way.

Dish internet is not a alternative for me. Horrendous latency and capped data plans...no thanks. We'll try and act surprised when the July 31st ETR isn't met ok?

Aaron, I can't get a hold of Michael. He was my contact for the area outside of your help. I'm guessing he moved on b/c my emails are getting returned due to the invalid email handler.

Can you help me get in touch with another supervisor that can assist here? Please PM me if needed.

I apologize we are not allowed to provide contact information to supervisors or mangers. There have been no changes regarding the projects in your area. I really wish I had better news for you.

As you know Aaron, Michael finally contacted me on his own due to how horrible my ticket was being handled (one tech saying one thing while another contradicted their last update). I literally went from being told my area and DSLAM was approved for all upgrades early 2013 to begging for even an ounce of help here today. It's easy for you guys to forget how shady my experience has been this past year with Windstream.

I have to ask, how can a support forum NOT get me in contact with a supervisor? That doesn't make much sense considering the point of this site is to provide help for Windstream customers.

I don't need their personal info, I just need them to contact me since you guys here online have apparently hit a wall with this case. Michael could at least get details and told me to check in monthly. Having regular cheerful support for my issue was kind of nice.

Please don't tell me the big Green has told you stop supporting my open ticket. The rest of the mods on here have done nothing but copy and paste "there is no new information at this time." I just hope that isn't where this is going with you. I'm more than happy to PM you my personal or work email so that can be handed to your superior.

Re: Windstream High-Speed Internet: STAY AWAY!

This is by far the very worst ISP I have ever had to deal with. I have written complaints on their facebook, yelp and I would suggest all who have also had negative experiences do the same.

Yes sir, get the word out on these crooks. I spoke to a local tech that came out for a phone issue and we talked about how messed up the organization is in general. They are told nothing and have to deal with angry customers who are getting ripped off every month by a company that refuses to fix their own equipment.

I have never seen such neglect or lack of effort from anyone like Windstream. They know their hardware is dated and over taxed yet they continue to subscribe new customers while refusing to upgrade the already over burdened DSLAM's. At least their reputation is getting slammed and people are spreading the word about their dial up like DSL.

They are not fixing any lines either. Have a bad line with noisy phone service so bad you can't hear the other party who is right in the same town and they still will not fix the issue with a known bad line bundle.

That doesn't surprise me. In my experience the local techs are great but they don't have the say so in putting in fiber and upgrading the DSLAM's. It's Windstream's greed that will hold off till their service and equipment is completely broken before they will invest in it. Nice way to support paying customers huh?

Windstream corporate are some of greediest people on planet earth. They receive funding yet don't upgrade their archaic equipment. Worst yet they continue to add customers to over taxed DSLAM's knowing they will receive horrible speeds day one and further degrade every other customer on the hardware in the area. Do these people have a soul?
