[F@H] So the servers have likes and dislikes, eh?

17:04:57:WU01:FS01:0xa4:Completed 10000000 out of 10000000 steps (100%)
17:04:57:WU01:FS01:0xa4:DynamicWrapper: Finished Work Unit: sleep=10000
17:05:11:WU01:FS01:Sending unit results: id:01 state:SEND error:OK project:10083 run:4 clone:71 gen:82 core:0xa4 17:05:57:WU01:FS01:Upload complete
17:05:57:WU01:FS01:Server responded WORK_QUIT (404)
17:05:57:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Server did not like results, dumping
17:05:57:WU01:FS01:Cleaning up

(I have a theory as to what happened ... I forgot to 'exit gracefully' from FAH before I shut this machine off last night with just a few minutes left to go on the WU in question ... oops ... )

Yep...clearly the server didn't like it. The client/log told you so.

The previous client was much more forgiving. Before installing version 7.whatever, I didn't have to remember to exit gracefully when shutting down my computer at night ....

I encountered the same last night:

02:05:17:WU00:FS00:Upload complete
02:05:17:WU00:FS00:Server responded WORK_QUIT (404)
02:05:17:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Server did not like results, dumping
02:05:17:WU00:FS00:Cleaning up

I shut nothing down (except myself), so I have no theory at all, but i still dislike losing WU's.

squirt See Profile and rewron See Profile, you could get that work unit number and take a look here: »foldingforum.org/viewtop ··· &t=23168 and see if it looks familiar. May be something in common.

Since multiple WU are involved, it might be time to look at the work server to see if the work server your WU is returning to is having a problem.

If your logs have lines like the following for the bad results, could you post them:

23:50:34:WU02:FS02:Uploading 349.24KiB to 171.67.108.xxx
23:50:34:WU02:FS02:Connecting to 171.67.108.xxx:8080
23:50:43:WU02:FS02:Upload complete

I've xxx the IP, because this is not an example of a bad results upload.

Here's the work server on mine:

02:04:57:WU00:FS00:Uploading 12.84KiB to 129.74.85.15
02:04:57:WU01:FS00:Starting
02:04:57:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 129.74.85.15:8080

Seems to be the same server as Jaynick's foldingforum link.

Thanks rewron See Profile , since that time; have you had any other's on 129.74.85.15 get thrown away?

Or have any other's completed successfully on 129.74.85.15 since the one WU was thrown away?

Hi jaynick,

That thread was for refusing the connection in late Nov. I don't see one about .15 or .16 throwing away WU. It looks like it might be a new issue that might need to be reported.

Thanks, I just thought it was recent enough for a suspect. Reporting it would be good. Who knows?

No WU's have finished (or been thrown away) since the "dump".

Hi Pin See Profile,

When I turn my computer on in the morning, my log starts from the time that I turn it back on again ... so I can't see what server was involved with yesterday's upload.

Does the client automatically save a back-up of previous logs? If so, maybe I can try to find that ....

The Linux F@H client saves previous versions of the log in a separate folder/directory (below the directory with the current log). I'm not sure whether the Windows client does it the same way but it would seem a likely place to look for it.

I don't see anything obvious in
C:\Program Files\FAHClient

In fact, I don't even see the current log file there ...

ah ... here's where they are ...

I could look it up if you gave me the Protein: (run, clone, gen) line from the log.

Other than the above, I am wondering where we might find training in grace for your client?

Hi Sorto, the run, clone, gen info are in my initial post.

As for grace, that's not exactly my specialty. Just ask Papa Bill ..

Yes, I know. I was being lazy. It's easier if I get the line in this format: Project: 10083 (Run 4, Clone 71, Gen 82)

That's ok, I reformatted and checked. There is no data back for that particular WU yet. Of course, it may take awhile to find out if anyone ever completes it successfully.

If I distract Papa Bill for a moment ... quick ... grab his pudding!

Lost another WU this morning to 129.74.85.15 but it looks like a thread on this issue has been opened at the Folding Forum:

Looks like abdulwahidc identified the problem with 129.74.85.15 as a disk failure. Hopefully this will end the WU not being "Liked".
