Re: OOL going up $5 on 1/1/13 said by DAOWAce:I have a long list of numbers for high-ups in the company, but again, I dread dealing with this again from my past experiences. So if they won't or can't fix your problem then why haven't you dumped them? Why pay for a service you're not happy with? There are other providers that you can get internet from. |

RickNYPremium join:2000-11-02 Manorville, NY | reply to RemyM I know the price was raised to $34.95/$39.95 in January 2002. I don't know when it was raised to $39.95/44.95 and 44.95/49.95.. So it has been less than 10 years since they raised it. Still a good deal. |

 | reply to RemyM I'd be happy if they said they were going to use the money to improve service reliability. Right now I go out the instant the power goes off. |

| reply to RickNY Standalone internet was 49.95 since at least November of 2002 (Just checked my bank records - that is when I was able to get service for the first time) - and it still is until this increase.... Nothing to complain given inflation etc... -- I am addicted to speed --- Boost + speed that is --- |

There are other providers that you can get internet from. I've said many times; I can't change services because Verizon didn't wire down my street when they covered my area 3 years ago. If I move 30 seconds down the road I can get FiOS. Other than that, the best internet is basically 2Mbit DSL, which obviously is unacceptable for anyone who does more than check e-mail.
I have talked to a FiOS engineer about wiring down my street; it couldn't be done unless they ran a whole new feed from a different area.
No matter how much I pester anyone, I'm still only one person. There's nothing I can do about the situation. |

 | That is a joke, right?
You are telling someone who regularly pushes 20+GB of data a day that they should switch to a 2Mbit/768Kbit connection from 50/8 because they are frustrated with their ISP's issues and and don't agree with their business decisions?
That isn't even counting my family, who streams content on 2 laptops and a media PC/TiVo.
Again, we'd have switched to a competing company that provided similar or better service if there was one available. There isn't. Even mentioning sub 15Mbit service as an option is loony. (FWIW, we'd be on Ultra if the economy crash didn't ruin our financial status, as even Boost Plus is sometimes not enough to support everything. QoS can only do so much.) |
