Notebook mouse

I have been using a Logitech mini optical mouse for several years but it has asked for retirement. So, what would you recommend me?

Optical or laser-guided? Microsoft, Logitech or other?

I am only after a wired one.

Budget: $40.

Thanks in advance.

Why wired? For gaming?

Personally I find wired mice for notebooks very clumsy. Most wired mouse were designed for a desktop in mind and has longer cables which gets annoying on a notebook. While there are a few notebook oriented wired mice with shorten cables most of them are just aren't very good mice in general.

Personally the only wired notebook mouse I like is the Razer Orochi. It's a notebook oriented mouse (with a shortened USB cable) but has very good tracking performance (excellent for gaming when wired) and decent ergonomics. Another plus for me is that it can run through Bluetooth when I don't need the USB cable (which is 95% of the time). The drawback however is that it's priced way way north of $40.
