DD-WRT QoS for gaming

Hey.

I need help with setting up QoS. I have no idea what do.

The problem is that when I'm gaming and others are on the network (browsing, facebook, youtube) I get huge lag spikes.

So what I want to do is cut everyone elses speed in half.

I an currently on 28/1 Mbps.

So everyone should get like 14/500.

Find out what ports the game uses, protocol, IP Address and set it to the highest priority.

How?

There is port forwarding, Port range forwarding, port triggering, and upnp.

All of the have the same thing.

Google the game name and type open ports or go to the publisher's website to find that information.

I just put Tomato (Toastman) on my Asus RT-N16 after doing some research and one of the reasons I went with it over DDWRT were several posts about QoS being broke in alot of the DDWRT builds.

QoS is really only designed if you have a VOIP/Voice service really, you wont benefit from it really.
