WN2500RP

Just got the WN2500RP wifi extender installed and configured. It is connected to my router and the connection speeds are great. The only issue I have with it is that when I connect to the wifi thru the extender it takes up to 2 minutes to get an ip address assigned to it regardless of which band I am connecting(2.4G or 5G). If I connect to the wifi router without going thru the extender it takes about 20 seconds. Is there any way to reduce the time needed to get an ip assigned when connecting thru the extender? I am using a WNDR3700 v2 wifi router with dhcp turned on. The extender is connecting to it with good speeds. Both bands are in the green.
