Ouch? Has the price of an x1 install gone up? I think I remember getting ours for like 30-40 bucks.

But yeah, I love it. I really would not consider ever going back to the old guide/system

I'm on a nice promo, with no contract. I don't want a contract, so the upgrade will cost me $99.

Is it really worth it?

Two issues:

1. Whenever I turn my system on (I guess the box is never really off?), it can be 2-5 minutes before the Pace X1 DVR responds to any remote commands or the X1 app. The only way I can change a channel when I first turn it on is to use the TV Guide app or Xfinity TV website.

2. My box keeps dropping back to stereo. I have to go into the menu, toggle it to stereo and then back to surround to get surround output again.

The scaled video in mini-guide and the delete prompt are both most welcome. I always forget to delete a scheduled recording, particularly if I had started watching it as it aired.

Bulk Erase of Recently Deleted Folder
· This feature allows the customer to permanently delete all the recordings in the recently deleted folder.

· Note: Recordings stored on offline devices will not be permanently deleted.

New “Delete Recording” End Card for Easier Deletions
· After a customer finishes watching a DVR asset (playback ends or customer presses “Exit” after it is 85 percent complete) an overlay will appear asking the customer if they want to delete that program.

“Priority Manager” within DVR Now Called “Series Priority”
· Customers should continue to use Series Priority to manage and change the priority of DVR’d programs, in the case of a conflict.

Scaled Video in Mini Guide View
· The mini-Guide now displays along full screen video so it does not block any of the picture.
· This screen now also includes time and temperature.

Cap Gallery Rows and Add View All
· On Demand content gallery rows are capped so a customer is no longer endlessly scrolling through long lists, and then scrolling all the way back to the beginning to select “View All.”
· Gallery Rows are capped at 24 entities and for rows exceeding 24 entities, there is a View All tile at the end of the row.

Music Videos Added to Personality Pages
· An additional gallery row now appears on personality pages for musicians that have assets for music videos and concerts.
· To access them, scroll down the personality page to “Music Videos & Concerts” row.
· Birthplace and birthdate have also been added to personality info.

Favorite Channels Row Added to “For You”
· An additional gallery row now appears under the Saved > For You section, called “Favorite Channels” for additional personalization.
· Hit “OK” on the remote for a list of options, like “Watch,” “Record” or “Channel Info.”

Expanded Last Watched
· The Last Watched row has been expanded for quick access to more of a customer’s recently used content.
1. Press the Last button on the remote,
2. Use the down arrow key to see a row(s) for:
- Last Channels
- Continue Watching
- Recent Applications
· Updates also include being able to delete individual shows.

Always Select First Item in a Folder
· Selecting Episodes from a Series Page will take customer to the Episode Guide and highlight the first item to reduce the number of clicks to content.
· Previously, the focus would be on the folder itself.

I've an installer coming on Friday to install X1 (I've been a triple play customer forever)...
Have a few questions, perhaps I could get some input from the community?

1:
Can anyone fill me in on which specific Hardware Models are better/best (X1 DVR, HD Reciever that has anyroom DVR access?), should I have a choice, in case the installer has selection of mfr/models on the truck.....

Can you guys/gals clear up for me exactly what equipment is Included, at NO CHARGE, with the X1 Package?

---> Includes 1 500GB X1 HD DVR
???? Include at least 1 HD Receiver in addition to the X1 DVR???

(Technically, my current non X1 TV Package includes 2 non DTA sources:
1 HD Receiver (with the HD Service Fee) and, in addition,
1 HD DVR which is included with the DVR service fee

You can set it from any of the boxes. You can also set it from your phone or tablet.

This has probably been asked and answered before but I wasn't able to find anything by searching.

If I go with the X1 DVR system and 3 "satellite" boxes in rooms, can I setup a show to record from one of the satellite boxes or do I need to set the recording only from the Main X1 box? I have WOW cable right now and I can tell the system to record any show from the satellite boxes.

Even if I request just HD non-dvr boxes at the time of signup, they'll still give me dvr capable boxes? Will they have dvr functionality disabled at the software level then?

Greets all!

I'm currently a FiOS subscriber but am considering a switch to Comcast. I'm in the Northeastern Philadelphia area. I'm wondering what model of STB I could expect to receive as a new customer install, assuming I want HD (non-dvr) boxes? I am looking at a double play package which includes the X1 platform.

X1 Platform June Updates!!!

Other Times
· An “Other Times” button has been added to the action bar on Info pages and in the episode guide for programs that have upcoming linear listings of the same program in all sections except Recently Watched, Purchased and Recordings.

Trending Now: XFINITY TV & Twitter Views
· When a subscriber uses the GUIDE button and selects the Trending view, they will see two rows:
– Trending on XFINITY TV (based on our usage patterns and Nielsen ratings)
– Trending on Twitter (indicated in the metadata with the blue Twitter icon)

Episode Guide Improvements
· The episode guide has been improved to show two lines of description on focus and four lines of description on selection.
· This change has also been applied to list rows in On Demand like Music and Fitness videos.

Filter and Sort Enhancements
· The “Free Only” filter now returns free content specific to a user’s subscription.

Local Menu Support in On Demand
· On Demand now supports truly localized menus in the Local section of On Demand.
· This will allow individual markets to customize the Local On Demand menu for their market. For example, instead of Baseball, the menu could say Phillies.

Part Number Added to Episodes and Entities
· Part numbers will be added to the end of episode and other entity program titles so it is possible to tell Part 1 from Part 2 in episode guides and browse.

Transport Bar Update
· The transport bar that displays when linear and non-linear video is playing has an updated time format to match the current playback pointer time – with the end result of less user confusion.
– For linear (live TV), the transport bar will display time in this way, using “clock time”:
1:00p <----------1:15p-------------> 2:00p
– For non-linear video (VOD and DVR) , the transport bar will display time elapsed/total time:
0:00 <----------------1h 12m--------> 2h 8m
· Additionally, when viewing video in the time-shift buffer, the Transport Bar will now correctly indicate the program title you are watching in the buffer, rather than what is currently airing.

Device Names at Activation
Duplicate TV names (device names) are a troubleshooting problem for technicians, CAEs, and consumers.
Moving forward:
· Users can enter their own custom device names at activation. An error displays if:
o A custom name duplicates an existing set-top in the subscribers home
o A maximum of 15 characters is reached
o Special characters are used
· If a user uses a pre-set name from the drop down menu more than once, a number will automatically be added to one of the device names. Example: If a user selects “Family Room” and it’s already in use, “Family Room 2” will be saved.
· User can still change name after activation in Settings if needed.

As always, not everyone gets updates at the same time.

Great to hear

The only thing it seems at least in my case that is still not fixed is the issue where the Video and Audio settings show "NA" for both and does not allow you to chance there settings until you restart the box. Other that that everything seem great again. Luckily I never need to change the audio and video settings very often

This "NA" issue may have to do with the box being hooked up to my Denon a 5.1 receiver but not really sure. I nver saw the "NA" issue when my Pace DVR was hooked up to my Denon. Anyone one here with the Arris DVR ever see "NA" under the Audio and Video settings?

So I found the Contact Us link for the Send To TV team and put in a complaint about it and how they took a perfectly usable feature and broke it. I got a reply back within an hour from a human being thanking me for a bug report and saying they were reverting to the previous version. Sure enough, I checked and it was already back to the old version on my box.

Talk about a quick response!

Cool glad this was fixed as I also noticed the issue as well for a while now.

If your box isn't pulling the new firmware automatically on a reboot, you can call Comcast and have them push it out to your box which is what I just did as I was having the slow loading tiles problem.

Thanks for the info I just took a look and sure enough it got the new firmware update and it is finally feels super fast like my older Pace boxes now It's about time Comcast fixed these issues with the Arris box. It has been driving me nuts for months.
