im telling you guys, Get the Arris X1 (XG1A) ! It resolves the audio issues, PERMANENTLY! Beg, scream, do whatever you have to do to have your local installer/repairguy go out and get it. If he comes to your house with the Pace X1s, kindly tell him the issue and request for him to get the Arris one.

I'm still experiencing audio drops, and wake up every morning to the box putting out stereo despite the menu still saying surround. I have to toggle to stereo and then back to surround to get surround out again.

I'm agitated enough that I might just go get an optical cable again soon.

Well why don't you try swapping the box with one of the working boxes. Then you'll know if it's the box or the signal to that box.

It could be a single issue or the box so it's best to have a tech out to check.

Pretty new to X1 service here (about 2 weeks old). I have a couple issues. My anyroom DVR functionality never seemed to work on the remote boxes up until last night when I did a full reboot of everything (X1 DVR included). I still have two lingering issues though.

1. One of the boxes seems to freeze/lock up at least once a day with the only fix being to reboot unit. This box also does not seem to work/see the Anyroom DVR. Should I just get the box replaced? If so, what are the steps for that? Does it start with a phone call or can I just take it to the local Comcast office to replace?

2. Minor complaint, but on screen caller ID does not seem to work. Is there a trick to getting that working that doesn't involve calling them (I spent an hour on the phone with them on this issue the other day only to be hung up/disconnected with no return call even though they had my number)?

I am so happy! So I called Comcast the other day cuz the audio drop out issue was annoying the god damn F outta me!

I got through to a retentions specialist and explained to her about how its bug with the hardware, the arris boxes dont have the issue, weve still been waiting for a firmware "fix" but havent gotten one yada yada and then she told me the best she could so was schedule an appt and its up to the tech if he/she has one on their truck.

So I said why not and decided to roll the dice and luckily, she could have a tech out like a day later.

So the comcast guy comes out, 15 mins before my 2 hour cutoff and at this point, im already thinking its gonna be bad news for me. So I explain to him whats going on and he says "weird, I wasn't aware of that but let me go check my truck." One of my pet peeves is when I have to tell the Comcast reps about something and they look at me like im smoking crack or something, its as if they dont want to believe anything else and that there are no issues or problems or that im always lying just to make their lives difficult.

Anyways, he comes out and is like "good news I have a box." So he comes in, hooks it up, and we both see the green light come on instead of blue. He's like "dammit i thought this was an Arris, not a Pace." So i'm thinking at this point hes gonna be like "Sorry I tried, guess we dont have any more, I can get your number and maybe I can have my sup call you if we ever get any yada yada" but instead, he whips out his iphone and starts furiously typing away on it. He ends up getting a call 5 mins later and then tells me, "you're in luck, one of my buddies has one, ill be right back."

So he goes to another comcast location or center or whatever across town and then drives back with it, hooks it up, and I am on cloud nine.

I thank him and tell him how much this made my day and that he'd be getting a 5 star rating for sure from me.

So TLDR with all the recent bad publicity regarding Comcast lately and my previous hsitory with them, I was pleasantly surprised yesterday and they totally impressed me and now my sound issues are gone and I have the sexy new Arris X1! WOOT!

why has my box restarted the past 2 nights. Thursday morning it came back on with the battery remaining working. Today it is unavailable.

This issue is driving me batty. I wanted to program a macro in my Harmony remote to fix it, but unfortunately it takes more than 5 button presses.

...or the issue of the audio mode dropping back to stereo from surround every morning in X1, which started several weeks back

Not consistently (at least in my area), and even when they do it might be 1-2 months after the fact.

Generally they post on your bill channel additions and deletions.

That would be a good thing provided they automatically update it when channels are added/subtracted. Not sure how that currently works with Favorites but since you have to manually set those up I suspect that you'd also have to manually add new ones that are added to your service (which is a real hassle since CC is notoriously bad about communicating such changes, and when you use your Favories Guide view you'll never see those new channels appear, which would then prompt you to add them).

I think I remember seeing or reading that they are going to have a your guide feature that can be set with only the channels you have but it will probably have to be set by hand like favorites which would take some time , but once set it would stay.

Do you think they will ever offer a feature where you can hid the channels you don't watch?

DirecTv has this feature and it was awesome because I could block out all the non-english channels as well as the MTV type of content.

I got that 1.43.0 update a couple of days ago and toyed around with it ,really liked the last channel feature expansion and the trending on twitter.Ididn't try the remote lock but thought it it would be nice couple of grandkids like to play with the mote as they call it.It will be nice when last channel has live picture and when guide has live channel.Was on vacation they had ATT Uverse and they have this feature on their guide and it was nice.Comcast is definitely behind but trying to catch up.The update was gone a day after I got it ,funny it came in the middle of the afternoon.My STB Timestamp has moved to June 24th my xre is back to 1.42.06 6/12.

I got the July update today. Along with the stuff in the list telcodad posted, there is also a new Comcast Labs section under the notifications menu. Let's you turn on and off features Comcast is testing.

Is it really worth it?

Two issues:

1. Whenever I turn my system on (I guess the box is never really off?), it can be 2-5 minutes before the Pace X1 DVR responds to any remote commands or the X1 app. The only way I can change a channel when I first turn it on is to use the TV Guide app or Xfinity TV website.

2. My box keeps dropping back to stereo. I have to go into the menu, toggle it to stereo and then back to surround to get surround output again.

The scaled video in mini-guide and the delete prompt are both most welcome. I always forget to delete a scheduled recording, particularly if I had started watching it as it aired.
