Re: [X1] Xfinity X1 now available to New Customers Telco- Thanks. Just looked at my DVR - was still on 4722. Did the reset via the Power button (10 second hold) - and I now have the 4816 build.
*Edit - had to do the same to both of my HD boxes. Once I reset - all now on the 4816 XRE Server build |

said by telcodad:said by mikedz4:have they added any more markets recently? Haven't seen any posts here this week yet. I haven't seen any new X1 market announcements since the one for the Richmond, VA area early last week. It's been awhile since I've seen an announcement of any new X1 market launches, but there is a news article today (but no press release yet) that it's available in Huntsville, Alabama now:
Comcast rolls out interactive cloud-based X1 Platform from Xfinity service to Huntsville subscribers By Lucy Berry, The Huntsville Times - September 19, 2013 »www.al.com/business/index.ssf/20···ive.html quote: Comcast, a global media and technology company, announced this week the Huntsville launch of the X1 Platform from Xfinity, a cloud-based interactive TV experience that brings together social media, apps, web content and more.

Your x1 will be updated to x2 once it's available in your area. |
|
 | why are they rushing out x2 when some areas don't have x1 yet like mine? Isn't that putting the cart before the horse? |

Nova- Strange. Just did as you said, and it's now telling me I'm on the Sept 4th build - but it had to have been a small update (or it was already DL'd) - b/c usually it will take 5-10 minutes to DL - this was merely via a reboot. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

How many times does this have to be said.
X1 is Comcast's brand name for all of their next generation platform.
X2 is not a separate platform. It is effectively a guide software update, it's a codename that Comcast uses for the next version of the software for X1.
That's how the new X1 platform works, it is easily extensible and can be majorly updated easily thanks to be building built on a modern framework of things like HTML5, etc. All using TCP/IP for communication.
X2 is their codename for an improved guide and has also been used to describe a second wave of X1 hardware coming late-this year. This is similar to how Comcast often calls the Pace XG1 simply the "X1 DVR" even though it has a proper model name.
So if your area launches later than others and in the mean time the X2 update comes out, that's what you'll get when your X1 boxes connect to the Comcast network and update. |
|
 | Thanks for that explanation. |

Comcast is reporting that the X1 platform has now been launched in 85% of their markets and is activating about 10,000 X1s every day:
X1 Expands To 85% of Comcast's Footprint Operator Connecting 10,000 X1 Customers Per Day, Comcast Vice Chairman & CFO Michael Angelakis Said By Jeff Baumgartner, Multichannel News - September 24, 2013 »www.multichannel.com/distributio···t/145675 |

1 edit | i chatted with comcast and they told me today and i quote "We provide X1 equipment to the customer who have Triple play or double play at this time. As we do not have enough stock at this time we need to take a new step for single play customer."
what the heck when the Pace XG1 (which is the dvr comcast uses for the x1 platform) is being deployed in areas were GCI and Mediacom are cable providers and they are not having problems with equipment stock.
Also Comcast said that it will be available to single play customers soon.
So what does comcast consider soon to be? |

Got build 4827 on one DVR last night. Now shows battery levels for remote under the about section. Also for those that have multiple X1 Hubs it groups the recordings by what hub they are actually recorded on. For instance I'll see Programs Recorded in Living Room and Programs Recorded in Master Bedroom each grouped separately on the recorded items. I only have hubs in the house and no satellites so I'm not sure how it operates with the satellite units. One downer is that the X2 preview interface is no longer accessible. |
|
aabaaf join:2011-12-09 Lombard, IL | I had 2 X1 DVR's, one has this new 4827 build, and is not grouping by which DVR it was recorded on. Please advise what setting you have yours on to do that. |
|
 | I didn't change any setting. They were just automatically grouped that way. |

 | None of my other DVRs have gotten the new software yet either. I don't know why. Just the one. |

FYI - Over on the Comcast Support forum, in the "Xfinity TV" area, a new "X1" category (separate from the general "XfinityTV and Equipment" one) has now been created for the X1 Platform: »forums.comcast.com/t5/X1/bd-p/X1
Some of the initial threads that have been created there are:
X1 - DVR X1 - DVR Known Issues X1 - DVR Feature Requests X1 - AnyRoom DVR FAQs X1 - DVR Series Recording Settings X1 - DVR: Extending a DVR Recording X1 - General
