quote:Live Last 9: In the past, when X1 customers tap "Last" on their remote controls, they see static tiles of the last nine things they viewed. Now, when customers hover over one of their last nine selections, that tile will be "live," essentially creating a picture-in-picture that lets the viewer see whats happening on one of their previously viewed channels.
I also came across this (unanswered) post of yours in the Comcast Customer Support forum several months ago:

Has anyone heard when that new feature where when you highlight a current program in the guide it shows a live tile instead of a static tile? The live tiles will also be shown on a highlighted channel in the Last 9 display.
What ever happened to the Live tiles? Also another cool feature they showed last year was when highlighting say a baseball game on the big guide and it showed the score.
I hope Comcast still plans on releasing these cool features for X1 this year.
TelcoDad I saw you broke the news on pricing for Gig Pro.Good job.Has anything been said about the live tiles in the last nine and on the guide that was discussed last year in May ?I miss the ability to record the next episode after deleting a recorded program that they were trying in Comcast Labs.
FYI - Comcast has released a set of new features in the X1's "Comcast Labs" area/menu, including a "Control Panel":

Settings, Preferences, General, Background darkness, press 'down' on the popup window and it lets you select a background picture.
Well I'll be darn
I never knew you could change the background colors. They even have a Philadelphia Eagles theme. I myself like the "Colors" theme the best. There blue theme is a little too dark for me I would like the lighter blue used for the new Kids Zone as an option. Hopefully Comcast will add more color options in the future.

When in Kids Zone, children can browse all on their own, selecting live programming, free Xfinity On Demand content, movies and TV shows purchased through the Xfinity Digital Store, as well as any saved programming on our DVR all of which has either been flagged by the network or studio as kids programming, or deemed age-appropriate for kids 12 and under by the great folks at Common Sense Media.
Additionally, while in Kids Zone, children can quickly find recently-watched programming, browse by their favorite network and even sort by their favorite theme such as "superheroes," "princesses" or "talking animals." ...

So, out of curiosity, I used the "Send to TV" feature and a USB mouse to perform a speed test of the internet connection going to the XG1. Using the DSLReports speed test I got around 27 Mbps, which coincides with the Performance internet I have coming to the apartment on a separate account. I'd be interested to see if someone with a higher speed tier would receive a faster speed on their XG1 or if everyone is provisioned with the same speed.
I like the xi3 box. it's the same size as a dta. It will need a good signal to communicate with the main x1 box as it uses one of the x1s tuners so you may need to run a new line just for the xi3 like I had to do.
I have a printed rate sheet from the local Comcast office, here in Springfield MA they'll gladly upgrade your DVR and boxes to X1 for a $49.99 fee. It says X1 Platform upgrade fee $49.99.
quote:IMPORTANT INFORMATION: As of March 3, 2015, due to changes in business costs, the X1 Platform Upgrade Fee decreased from $49.99 to $19.99 per occurrence. Price excludes applicable taxes and fees.

Most of the RNG150N "companion" boxes have been supplied by Pace, but recently Samsung has become a supplier for those also: »customer.comcast.com/hel ··· nion-box
My uncle got those Samsung boxes during his install. Any word on the differences between them and the Pace? I know Arris DVRs had bugs the Pace boxes didn't and vice-versa.
No, I haven't heard/seen much about the Samsung RNG150N companion box to say.
I just checked out the Cable Box User Manuals page on Comcast's Customer Support site, and noticed that it now it shows that the Cisco RNG150N STB is "Compatible with X1":
Do the X1 DVRs allow external HDD expanded storage just yet?
No external expanded storage on the DVR's, and they most likely never will allow it. They are sometime within the next few months to a year, going to cloud storage, with 1 TB standard, from what I have been told. Then most likely if you want most storage above the 1 TB, it will be $X for X MB/GB more per month.
OK, it looks like we've finally got the definitive answer on whether the eSATA port on the X1 DVRs will ever be enabled to expand local storage: »forums.comcast.com/t5/X1 ··· 4#M63955
Xfinity photo share now available ! They have both Apple and Android apps. used today to watch a few videos with grandkids of themselves on tv.Nice little novelty. I don't know anyone to share with to see if that feature works or not but I imagine if sharing with your own tv works the other function works also.
