Edit - And just when I had given up on USPS today for the VGA adapter I ordered they knock on the door.

Nezmo posted : It is indeed the VNC doing it. I hooked-up my Dell monitor over DVI and ran the mini direct for a bit. The Magic Mouse was fine. What's really odd is after then going back to using VNC the mouse pointer continued to work with the MM but it's very jumpy. It'll be fine when I switch permanently to running without using VNC.

Unfortunately yes. I set the mini up that way when I first got it but it's now buried under a desk. I can, however, unhook my PC DVI connection and try that.

On the mini I'm using the built-in server. On my PC I'm using RealVNC Viewer. The latter can disable the viewer/client mouse input but that does not seem to free-up the mouse (pointer) on the mini. If USPS would hurry up and get here I could try for certain.

Tried this and skeechan 's suggestion. Nothing. I wonder if this is VNC related. I have a video cable coming in the mail today and then I can ditch VNC. I'll see what happens.

This seems to help for quite some people. To do this, click on the small wheel besides the + and - buttons.

I'll give that a try.

Note, I paired an old Dell BT mouse to the mini. Same exact problem. No pointer movement but clicks okay.

I am currently running my Mac using Screen sharing over VNC. I don't know if that is causing an issue. However, the Apple BT keyboard is working fine as are the Magic Mouse clicks.

I'll give what you suggest a try.

Did you download the latest software for the Magic Mouse? Looking at the Apple Discussion Forums there does seem to be a high rate of lemons. If you manage to resolve these issues and decide to keep it, hold onto your receipt or keep it on your phone. It does come with a one year warranty but the Genius who swapped my mouse examined my receipt very closely before giving me a replacement.

I'm using the latest Mac mini and I double checked I have the latest drivers.

skeechan posted : It depends on the trackpad. One trackpad it fits tight on the sides and what happens is when you click, it holds the click down. My other trackpad fits great. So the two trackpads are not the same size; not sure if it is height, width or what. In any event, a small emory board would probably loosen up the frame with little problem if ya got a sticky one.

I really like that.

I was going the remote desktop route to my mini but realized an actual Apple keyboard would be helpful and the small one is nice and fits behind my other keyboard (almost under it) when not used on my under desk keyboard/mouse draw.

I also have a cable on order to allow me to use another input on my 27" monitor. I know, slippery slope...

I'm on the fence about the mouse. I may try exchanging it and buy the Trackpad as well and see what works for me.

Edit: Not so great reviews on Amazon for that frame. Says it's a bit too tight for the Trackpad. How did you get on?

Swapped it for a Magic Mouse which was difficult to set up but I finally got it working.

After about a month the batteries went dead and I had to try several sets before I found a pair it would recognize. 24 hours later those went dead too so I brought it back to the Apple Store and they swapped it out for a refurbished mouse.

So far that mouse has been getting just about a month out of a new pair of batteries. Maybe they'd last longer if I remembered to turn the mouse off when I shut dwn the computer but, it comes as no surprise that the apple store shows their rechargeable battery kit alongside the Magic Mouse.

By comparison, I used to swap batteries in my Logitech mouse, maybe, twice a year.
