'phone 390' problem, occupied line?

I have a phone, it's either "nortel networks 390" or a "vista 390", not sure what it is ( both names are on the phone, and I tried to google image it, but both names give me the right picture of my phone ).

Anyway, the problem is, the light is on ( as if I was already on a phone call ) at all time, and I can't receive any call, or make one.

I can compose a number, but it doesn't ring.

Everything looks plugged fine ( unplugged and re-plugged everything to make sure ) and I don't have any other phone in the house.

What can cause this?

You have dial tone but it doesn't ring ?

Could be your phone or the line...

if you try to call your phone line with your Cell phone, do you have a busy signal ? If yes, try unpluging your phone from the phone jack, and try again. If you don't have a busy signal again, then your phone might be deffective. If it's still busy, then there might me a problem with your wiring in your home, or outside your home.

If you have a D-Mark installed from bell, you can try your phone directly in the D-mark.

If you have another phone, I would try another phone to.
