Frontier

Must be the fiber Frontier people and the Rochester fed people skewing the results. My clients can't get a solid 1 mbit on the 3-6 mbit lines they have now.

Have 1mbps here and have trouble getting over 500kbps to any server...except the frontier speedtest. Even with a ping over 1,000 ms their speedtest gives numbers of 1.2mbps. Do speedtest on any other site and the speed is .1-.4mbps with ping around 700-900ms. The ping was low last night, 500 ms.

In NY a lot of Frontier's backhaul is leased from VZ - that is why the internal speedtest usually is fast but a real speedtest sucks. Verizon doesn't like to upgrade any lines (they'll sell you T1s all day long at rape me rates but try getting a faster Ethernet or OC link) so that makes a crummy ISP like Frontier seem even worse.

In Rochester where they have the old Global Crossing / CyberCenter backbone its reasonably quick.
