Acessing Home Server

I recently converted my older computer to act as a home server. It is always on and connected to the internet. Is there any way I can access this server from an external location via the internet.

VZ's terms of service don't permit home servers. That being said, HFS-HTTP works fine:

VZ blocks port 80 so you'll have to port forward a non standard port like 6080 and your server's address on your LAN would have to be static. Your ip addresss would be:

You could also use a service like no-ip.com

You are a bit out-of-date. Dynamic FiOS customers have not had port 80 blocked for a few years....

Dynamic FiOS customers have port 25 filtered - that is the only port 'blocked'.

Depends on the type of server. Port forward 3389 and use RDP? If you need a hostname dyndns?

When I do this, I set up SSH on an unused high port and use Private/Public keys. It takes some setup work but is not too hard. It is easier on a Linux box.

Numerous test sites indicate that port 80 is closed to my IP.

What are you trying to access? You can set up a DynDNS account, Logmein, RDP. Many ways to do this

That doesn't mean Verizon is filtering port 80.

Port 80 is not blocked for me. I use dyndns to forward web requests via port 80 since 05 to a small personal website for myself.
