Normal game progression is:
Beat Game normal -> Beat Game Cruel -> Beat Game merciless -> then run dungones at the difficulty/reward level you select
yeah... I try to play it for 15/20minutes as a CD for after my GW2 session
i'm Hiltzar in PoE... suprise surprise! add me... Pretty much, The game has a chance to drop 'maps' when you can randomize to run and find better loot depending on what you want to versus. Similar to the end map running generator in torchlight 2.
Made a new character the other night and had a blast playing, its defiantly more fun with people though. I'll add you this evening if my buddy and I get on. My tag is Synthetyk.
The leagues are basically different ladders from how I understand it, Cut Throat is basically a open ended PVP ordeal. Where people have a chance to zone into your area and kill you for your items and your items drop. I'm not for sure though, I haven't done any reading up on them. Although cut throat sounds fun as hell. -- | Im not really a ego maniac im just really good at what I do...

So the option of orb of regrets and respec points from quests are there, they aren't a 100% option. If you fubar with your points bad enough, you'll have to reroll..
And the best part of this is having the same starting class, but a different spec. Straight diablo 2 frozen orb sorc and a meteor sorc type idea.
The inventory idea gets better the higher level you get too. There are certain vendor recipes that will drop that you will learn. For example a 3 different colored (reb+blue+green) socket linked item will sell for one chromatic orb. So you'll start to ignore blues completely unless you scour it and reroll it for a rare or different magical stats with a orb. The idea of creating your own gear based on a gambling type system is sick.
Overall, the game is completely free; there is no pay to win. If you enjoy/ed Diablo 2, you should for sure check this game out. The developers are just retardedly supportive. Game has potentional thats for sure. -- | Im not really a ego maniac im just really good at what I do...

VioletVenomLets go GatorsPremium join:2002-01-02 Gainesville, FL 1 edit | reply to BKayrac Thanks for the heads up on this game. Started playing yesterday and this game is great! They've definitely taken the diablo style to the next level!
So I started a witch and I think I'm going to try a fire/ice, heavy crit, elemental curse build. I just started contemplating my passives direction recently so still a work in progress. I'm level 18 now and am holding off on spending more points until I get a better grasp on my direction.
I was reading through their forums looking for info. One guy advises not to build the passive tree over 80/90 points as the higher levels take an insane amount of time to level to. quote: Don't forget either : everytime you die, you lose 15% of your current level. As well, just looking at the ladder, going from lvl 81 to 82 takes 100+ Million Xps (a bit more than 2 x the full route from 1 to 50)... just to gain 1 lvl. (and 20 more to go until lvl 100, all of them with more Xp needed than the previous one) There is a very good reason why most of the very experienced players (not counting myself in those) are regularly advicing people on the forum to NEVER use the full 111 points for their talent trees. It's cause it just won't happen.
This is what I was playing with this morning, the above said I'm going to have to do some editing to it. »www.pathofexile.com/passive-skil···Tm1YB3BS

| reply to BKayrac I have enjoyed playing this the last couple days. I think Shadow is my favorite melee guy so far and Witch is my favorite overall. I got my Witch to 12 last night. I am building her as a necromancing, frost AoE'ing maniac. I've also got a couple RL buddies joining in on the fun.
I was going to ask what the death penalty was in this game. Looks like it's 15% XP loss. Guess I need to quit running into the middle of the those packs so much to get off a frost nova. lol |
|
| Death penalty does not occur until after you beat the game on normal
IN merciless and cruel, death does inflicts an XP penalty! dying has a meaning! |

GundyPremium join:2002-10-29 | reply to Dissembled A summoning witch is a blast, it takes abit to get up to speed and your minions to get some health. But once you get some minion damage + life support gems they really start to shine. Especially if you do the Minion Instability + Skeleton Summoning Totem.
I've been playing a Freezing Pulse Templar and can't get enough, super high health/ES and multiple freezing pulse projectiles. Working on stacking enough crit so I can keep things frozen while shotgunning freezing pulse.
The builds in this game continue to amaze me. -- | Im not really a ego maniac im just really good at what I do...

Needs polish in areas, as been mentioned, but I've only seen the start area. Animations are good, voice acting is fucking great, and the story is intriguing.
I'll be definitely be playing this some more. |

VioletVenomLets go GatorsPremium join:2002-01-02 Gainesville, FL | reply to Gundy I tried a little bit of summoning when I first started playing. My zombies annoyed me because, being new, I couldn't tell them from the mobs. Might try going back to it though with another toon, seeing as we have 24 character slots. |

| reply to BKayrac Why I like PoE better than D3:
- It's more like an MMO, common towns, can form groups in town, then open world is instanced to your group. similar to Guild wars 1 - Better customization of your toon! All of your abilities are NOT driven off of your selected weapon. You can be a two handed mace wielding, warrior, that can summon minions... or fire ice spells! Also this includes your traits/talent points. - Gear actually has meaning! This isn't an auction house game. It's a treasure hunting game, where the gear you find and make improves you... not the auction house!
the more i play it the more addicted i get to it. I watched an end game video and it was very cool. |
|
VioletVenomLets go GatorsPremium join:2002-01-02 Gainesville, FL | I think "better customization" is a MAJOR understatement. The amount of customization through gear, gems + support gems and the passive skill tree is staggering!! It is absolutely amazing really, the developers hit this one out of the park. You might dig this video that Chris Wilson is narrating about their development progress after 1 year.

This is a big problem, I solved it by running some auras with expanded range passive in the talent tree. That way I could atleast tell which mobs were mine. However, this is pretty chaotic when you join public games. I've even heard about how necros are being kicked from groups until they fix the highlighting of friendly mobs. -- | Im not really a ego maniac im just really good at what I do...

KoilPremium join:2002-09-10 Irmo, SC kudos:1 | reply to BKayrac Ok...played a shit ton more last night. (disclaimer: I'm still noob, so if I'm off on my facts below, pls feel free to correct, thx)
This game is the shit, no doubt about it.
This game's loot system beats the ever living shit out of D3's, spits in it's face and calls it a bitch for even trying.
The skill tree is sick beyond compare...but the real cool factor here is the gem system.
There are (and there may be more, and I haven't seen them yet) spell gems and support gems. Spell gems give you a certain spell (doesn't have to be equipped in your weapon either...can go into any slot thats colored correctly. In armor, shield, whatever). Now...the cool part is that certain armor and weapons have gem slots that are linked. You can tell this when you loot, as there is a line connecting the gem slots....anyway, if you use a spell gem here, then add a support gem to the other slot, it modifies the use of that spell. So you can take a simple fireball spell for example, and throw on a support gem that multiplies projectiles and increases fire dmg, for example....now instead of casting one fireball, you're casting three for increased dmg for all of them....and the animations are friggin sweet.
Oh, and then there are the orbs. There are orbs to upgrade a regular item to a rare, completely change the stats on your rare, completely change your rare into another rare...it's unreal.
Completely loving it. I'd expect this game to go full tilt once it's released. -- I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.- Edward Everett Hale
